Best buy for the money on the market today.

I, like other reviewers, was skeptical about what I would get for such a low price. But, after five months of use, I can give an enthusiastic "thumbs up." The speakers are clean and the sound is more than sufficient for our rather large bedroom. The DVD is fairly easy to use and has all the whistles and bells that I need.
I used the customer service once when I had a problem with programing and got through quickly and reached a service rep. that actually knew the product! He fixed my dilemma in less than 90 seconds. Incredible in today's market (Hello Compaq, take notes from these guys).
In today's high tech market there are great buys to be found at the bottom-end of consumer electronic products, and the Norcent DP1600 DVD Home Theater is one of them. Highly recommended.

I've had this thing for for a month now, and it is great. It doesn't play .avi files, but it may work with a different encoding. MPG'S and mp3's work good, and pictures show up clearer that the way they were on your computer. The surround sound is great for DVD's, but u only get the front 2 speakers for cd's. The best part of it is the subwoofer. You can really feel it with audio cd's and dvd's. Overall, its a great buy for the price.
Great price for a good system as long as it works

For the unbelievable low price and the many features this unit promised, we couldn't resist and we just had to buy this system. And true, setup was quick and easy, and overall the sound was also very good for these relatively small satellite speakers. Just the speaker pair for the special effects was a little weak, but it was O.K. considering the low price. The best results came with playing music CDs over the system--I thought I was in a dance club and it was pretty powerful. After we watched about 10 DVDs over a couple of weeks or so, the DVD player started to have its problems as the picture became smudged. Then on the next viewing the screen had lines running in every direction and the picture was gone. After we checked all connections, we had to call the Norcent "Help"-Line which was answered immediately and the gentleman was friendly and helpful. After trying all possible fixes which were suggested by the Norcent Help-guy, nothing worked and the picture was not restored, and sadly we had to return the unit. It's a good deal and the product seems to be of acceptable sturdy quality, and as long as it works it can be enjoyed. But once a problem with the picture arises you may have to return the system unless you want to use it as a great sound system for your CDs--that might be worth it.

I bought this specificly for my bedroom NOT livingroom. It has been good to me and has nice features! The sound is nice but like I said it is in my small bedroom! I gave it 4 starts cuz it is my first home theater system! GOOD Product! Buy It!
Good unit for the price 2003-07-05
It's a good unit for the price.
Ideal for small room entertainment system.
It plays pretty much every format and every media.
The only thing that I do not like about this is the unit gets hot.

Not Even Worth the Money

The $100 I spent on this system was a waste of money. It has absolutely no power and if you turn it up above 10 or 11 everything is distorted. I had this system for about a year and the only thing it is good for is an overpriced paper weight. I sold this one for $50 at a yard sale and used the money to buy another home theater system for only $50 more than this one. It has 500W of power and the sub-woffer alone has more power than the Norcent. I would not recommend this for even the most penny-pinching person. If you want a good deal, get something else.
Plays all Region 2004-10-12
I purchased this unit solely for playing UK DVD's. I installed it in my bedroom and was so pleased with the quality I went out and purchased another one to use on my Big Screen to play the UK DVD's. I bought it cheaper at Fry's electronics $89.00, I think Circuit City has them also. You can make it a region Free DVD player at I believe the site is www.regionfreedvd.net. In rgards to the technical specs the only drawback is it does not have a power on/off button on the remote, but sound and picture quality are excellent.
Norcent DND Home Theater 2004-02-25
This is simple people.....this is without a doubt the best buy I have ever gotten in electronics. It sounds unbelievable and works great....you simply cant find a better deal for a dvd home theater system. You can barely buy a good dvd player for this price. Be smart and buy this..
Great buy for a low price 2003-09-12
Its a great product for about a hundred bucks. It's got a built in amp and the audio output is fairly good. DVDs play good and picture quality is excellent. Surround & center speakers dont work for audio and MP3 CDs but thats Ok if you look at the cost. I ve heard you also get a crack code and you can play all region DVDs on it. If you dont want to spend a lot of money, this is a wise choice. One bad thing, it does not have bass and trable control.
