Best printer I've ever owned!

I've been through a lot of crappy printers and this one was the best I've ever had. It's held up through 4 moves, a lot of printing through grad school, and the best part is that the ink cartridges are cheap and last a long time! I also recently discovered that it prints great pics! All around, you couldn't ask for more for $99.
Solid Performer on 4X6 photos 2004-11-13
The Canon i470D has turned out to be a very good investment. I am in electronics sales and we are constantly told to that "features tell & benefits sell!"
Well, this printer has provided me with a lot of benefits. I've had it for a year and I love it.
Benefits are: solid printer for Word documents, spreadsheets and especially WEB pages. It has not smeared or clogged the heads or printer as my old HP 660CES.
But the biggest benefit is that I can print crystal clear 4X6 prints of my new gradnson. I give them to relatives and not a one guessed that I printed them on a PC printer. I use Canon glossy photo paper but just found that FUJIFILM glossy works just as well.
Bottom line is that this printer provides me with all the benefits I was looking for. I hightly recommend it for someone like me who dowsn't want to be too technical but get a printer that works well over the long haul.
PS, I also have a Canon CanoScan D1250U2F Color Image Scanner and also got it a year ago. It also has provided me with a lot of benefits.
I am getting a new digital camera for the holidays and most likely will get a Canon Powershot A95 when the price reaches around $300. I think the 3 should really work well together. Since I am not a real techie I think this combo will suit me just fine.
Outstanding printer... 2004-10-03
The Canon i470D was impulse purchase and it has turned out to exceed my expecations. The images are excellent and the control over color levels "to the edge" prining makes this peripheral an exceptional buy!
Pros:
1. print quality;
2. built-in card reader
3. incredible software package;
4. print to the edge option
5. print saturation options (per color including black)
6. art-work backgrounds with frames for multiple images
7. image browser with slide-show
8. picture stitch program;
Cons:
1. should use Canon paper only; most reliable results
2. small ink cartridges means you replace more often
Very pleased after six months... 2004-07-20
This printer has been great. Bought it for $50, after a $50 instant/in-store rebate. The black ink cartridges are inexpensive and longer lasting than my previous, and costly, BJ-100 cartridges. The printer is fairly quiet and prints at an acceptable speed. So far the print quality (black & color) has been excellent. I have yet to use it for any photo pics though - so can't comment there.

Excellent quality of printed items - documents and photos. What's better is the long-lasting cartridges and their low price.

I have owned the Canon i450, two i455s, and now this i470. Although they wear out quickly when you use them as much as I do--they are definitely not intended for that--these are lovely little printers, cheap to operate. The only thing you have to do is keep plenty of cartridges on hand, and use it, use it, use it, because otherwise the jets clog and the printer dies an early death.
Great little printer 2007-02-17
I've had this printer for 2 years, and it still is my primary printer at home. The print catridges are cheap (you can buy a multi-pack at Costco), and it's a definite advantage that the printer has a black catridge and a color catridge. If you do more black and white printing that color printing you will appreciate this.
The printer is also quiet. Plus it has settings to adjust the noise levels. Another cool thing about this printer (especially at this price) is that you can adjust the quality of printing. At the highest print quality, it looks as good as a laser printer. However, most times you won't need the highest print quality.
As mentioned by other reviewers, the print quality is great (again, especially considering the low price).
The maintenance software that comes with the printer is easy to use.
All in all a great second or first printer.
great photos, cheapest ink cartridges on the market 2007-01-20
have this printer for 3 years now, and all my other equipment ,ie computer and etc..have long since died , but not my canon i470d printer..great quality photos, and the best thing about this printer is the $$ you will save on ink! cartridges can be purchased for 2.00 each! awesome, real savings here! get this printer, i may buy another for my mom too!
Excellent printer 2007-01-16
Bought this printer to use to print digital photos and wanted them to look professional quality and not cheap. Pictures come out very vivid and colorful. Can also do borderless printing. Better than every single HP Printer I have ever owned (I have had 5-6 HP Printers so far..will never buy HP again)
Awesome printer 2005-04-29
I bought this printer to make photo pictures with my Kodak digital camera. I liked the idea that you could print pictures with it and not have to have it hooked up to a computer.
The photos that print off of this thing are awesome. You can't tell if it came from the photo shop or from my printer.
The cost to use this printer is 2 to 3 times cheaper than my Lexmark or Compaq printer. I finally got rid of those and just use my Canon printer.
It is quieter than my other two printers, too. Cheaper to run, quieter and great print quality. What more could you ask for??!!
