Worth Buying
2008-05-05
It's a good learning toy especially for ages 2 and above, when the kids start to scribble all over. It's not messy unlike other drawing boards with markers so u can be assured that ur home will be free from scribblings on the walls. I recommend it to all those kids who love scribbling and eager to start writting.
The perfect Christmas gift for a toddler!

Highly recommend this product. Our niece was 2 yrs old, had lots of toys and books already; so didn't know what to get her for Christmas, 2007. Stopped in to visit in February and her parents told me that this is something that she still plays with every day. Don't need to worry about loosing caps on the pens & drying out, 'cuz the "ink" is water. Don't have to worry about accidentally marking up clothes, the rug, etc. I purchased extra pens, too, so that when her cousins come over, there isn't any arguing over a pen or if one pen gets lost. Sure wish this was around when my kids were younger.

My daughter likes to play with this toy about as long as anything else (which is not very long). She likes how it works and I like how there's no damage if the pen wanders. She hasn't taken to the numbers, letters, and figures on the mat, maybe because they don't stand out very well. The mat is wearing out at the point where it folds, but it doesn't affect the use. This is a great toy for travel because it's lightweight and compact.
Awesome toy!

This is one of my daughter's favorite toys! There is a little elastic band to keep the pen when you are storing the mat. It is a large mat... big enough for two or more kids to draw. I had thought about purchasing the rainbow colored one, but it was way too small... also thought about the Thomas one, as my daugher is a big Thomas fan, but I knew this would be a favorite for quite a while and wanted it to last well past the Thomas years... both were also much more expensive... Only qualm is finding an extra pen so that Mommy or a friend can draw with my daugther instead of taking turns! The accessories are easy to find, but the extra pens are difficult... not ready to buy online and pay the shipping charges for it yet... Dries very quickly... not sure what some others were talking about it taking too long to dry... but then again, my daughter does not wet just one spot... she is 3 and has great fine motor skills and draws/scribbles or attempts to write letters, etc... perhaps that is why it dries in a normal amount of time... sometimes too quickly for us. At $48, Amazon definitely has this over priced... we paid $8 at a big chain store around Christmas time, but I would have been willing to pay up to about $15 or $20... not sure if I would fork over almost $50 though. A word about the accessories... the big shape one (triangle, circle, square) works great, but the "stampers" (cloud, airplane, and some other things) don't work well at all... they "stamp" far too fine a line, so fine it doesn't come out most of the time... definitely not worth the money... I also wish I hadn't bought the accessories at all... takes the creativity out of it for my daughter... I find myself "pretending" I can't find them so she will just draw and write letters/ words instead. But the mat itself is awesome... we tend to buy this for lots of birthday parties we go to!
Aquadoodle mat a favorite with the 2-4 year olds!

The Aquadoodle mat is really fun for 2-4 year olds, and great for their grandparents. This is a no mess, fun drawing mat that only requires water. The stamps are fun, where little ones can stamp images on the mat, then watch them disappear. This provides mess free, fun entertainment! It is great for practicing drawing shapes, letters & encouraging imagination. Watching the images fade is also great fun!
Great for toodlers

Just add water, doodle with the "magic" pen and see color magically appear with no mess. Designs dry and disappear in less than a minute. Several kids can play at once. Use over and over again. Includes magic pen, storage pouch and mat. Adult supervision recommended. Measures 32"L x 32"W.
Good toy but overpriced!

This is an entertaining toy for young children, however, it is greatly overpriced for what it is. I was truly surprised when I opened the box and saw what I got for my money. My children saw the commerical for this toy, and both of them really wanted it. To me, the product is much better in concept than in reality. My kids were not disappointed, but I was. From the child's perspective, it is a winner. But from the adult perspective, it is suprisingly little for your money. All things considered: your kids will probably love it, at least for a few weeks, but, it is overpriced.
Love it

Our son loves this toy! It doesn't take batteries, isn't loud and encourages creativity with just water, what more can you ask for.
It does take some time to dry if your child continuously colors in one section, but other than that, it is fun and keeps him entertained with his imagination.
Good gift for 4th birthday

I wasn't sure if our niece who was turning 4 would like this- she absolutely loves it. I imagine it depends on the child, but if he or she likes drawing/painting and likes water play, then this makes good sense and was well received in our case anyway. I should add that we bought the "princess" version b/c our niece is also big into princess stuff.
Too much fun

I bought this for my 2 year old but my 6 year old also enjoys it so much that they often fight over the water pen that the product uses. We have had it for months now and they still love it. The only thing I could reccomend is that if you have more than 1 small child buy an extra water pen if they are available, to avoid any fights over it. I resorted to letting them dip Q-tips in water and draw on it that way when the fighting got too intense, it works but they both always want the special pen. I highly reccomend it, best of all there's no mess invloved, just water.
