2004-05-01A previous reviewer stated that there is a 100 page tray and no USB, my tray is much smaller and I have a USB cable. Another stated that this printer prints quality pictures really fast, this is false; this printer is slow. Yet another stated that there is absolutely zero noise, this is also false as I have a fan in my window blowing on high and I could still hear the printer. Even though I could hear the printer it is not loud. These reviewers were so far off, the only conclusion that I can draw is - it looks like the people at Lexmark have been rating their own products on their lunch hour again! (...)
Marvellous quality for cheap price
2004-01-29
I have been down the road with a lot of Lexmark printers. They are easy to install, within minute they go from box to printing. However, this one is the best values money wise, yet gives you really superior print quality. It prints crisp, sharp letter quality pages at a good speed.
Accurate feed, no jam, quick spooling, 100 page in tray, 25 capture. USB(not included), photo printing software included, with special centering features.
For the price, you really cannot beat it. The Quality is good at any price.
Excellent printer

One of the best photo printers i own. This one prints quality pictures, really fast and very quiet. When I say best, i am comparing with other photo printers of the same price range. The software is not that user friendly but includes all the features necessary to make a good print. Take advantage of this printer.
Done several experiments with this printer so far and found out that this is a very decent printer. Built-in memory card reader is another asset to this printer.
Excellent Photo Printer.

I owned atleast 5 printers in the past, 3 of them are photo printers. This one is just amazing.
1. The quality of the print is awesome.Trick is use the best digital camera/photo paper combination.
2. The software that comes with it is better than most contemporary printers'.
3. The best thing is, it prints really fast with absolutely zero noise.
4. Built-in Memory reader adds value to this printer.
Good workhorse printer

It is not the fastest printer around, but it has worked reliably for me. I use it mostly for black and white document printing.
Waste of money
2004-07-11
I got one from HSN for $9.97. It is cheap. But even at that price, I don't think it is worth to buy. Compare to my i470D, it is much slower and quality is poor too. For stand quality, it takes about 2 and half minutes. For high quality, it takes around 7 minutes. For best quality, it takes around 15 minutes. There was little difference between high quality and best quality. Even when printed in best quality, the picture printed by this printer is still not as good as my i470D. It is darker than i470D. It will take about 3 minutes when using my i470D to print high quality picture.
If I can suggest, don't waste your money on this junk. I recommend Cannon because I used i470D and found the quality is very good. So go for Canon brand. My colleage tried HP. She said HP is good too.Hers is HP Photosmart 7660. I also got an HP Photosmart 7260. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure it is good and much better than the Lexmark p707.
There are many better alternatives

Lexmark really tried -- they included the USB cord instead of shorting you, they included two standard ink cartridges (one black, one color) instead of giving you half-filled cartridges, and they priced it right.
Then they built it wrong. The black ink cartridge prints a slightly faint image, the color is useful only for office-type presentations (banding is prominent and the image is fuzzy if
you use it for a photograph, and the color reproduction is extremely poor) the machine is flimsy, loud, and far slower than the rated speed. The built-in photo slots don't work too well -- the transfer speed is not nearly as good as with a standard USB card reader, and the included software is clumsy and difficult.
My HP 930c is almost as fast, quieter, and though not billed as a 'photo printer' produces better images (and much better text) print. The way printers are improving, any time a 5 year old printer is better than a brand new one, you know there's something wrong. After rebates I only paid $15 for this, and it was so disappointing that I'd have sent it back if the cost of shipping weren't equal to the cost of the printer.
Short version -- it's just barely worth having if it's free.
Bargain Printer For Digital Photography
2004-06-22
I first want to clarify the quality star rating of 4 I gave to the P707. For value at this price point, this baby gets 5 stars, hands down. For print quality, maybe 3.5 stars. But let's keep it all in context - if you want the best quality print, you know you're going to have to shell out more than $76. At this price, this printer provides excellent value. The P707 has slots of Compact Flash I and II, SD, SM/MMC and Memory Stick. It has auto print head alignment and can determine what kind of paper you have in automatically. In order to get it's best print quality, you'll probably need Photoshop or some other high quality photo editing software. The included software doesn't hack it. Total bargain at this price point.
Pretty cute printer!

I just got this printer several hours ago. It is really fantastic. The softwares are powerful(but I have to install their soft to run the printer, so not 5), the connection is easy and the card reader is really convinent. Compared with my past printer, it is smaller, lighter and more user-friendly. Esp. the card reader still works even the power is off, it is really a cool design. I would recommend this printer for every one.
Cons (why only 4 stars): have to install the software to run (many printers can run directly in Xp), the ink is expensive.
