Editorial Review
Listening to your iPod on the go is even more convenient with this wired remote and high-quality earphones set. Compatible with all iPod models except iPod with video, iPod nano and iPod shuffle. The earbud-style headphones rely on Neodymium transducers, a rare earth magnet that significantly enhances frequency response and overall sound quality - in fact, five times as powerful as other headphones that use aluminum, cobalt, or ceramic drivers. The wired remote lets you fast forward, rewind, play/pause, and control the volume with four simple buttons. The Hold switch allows you to lock your iPod remote so buttons can't be pressed accidentally. Clip the remote to your lapel, shirt, or collar for easy access.

Convenient but not perfect 2007-08-20
(I've heard a bunch of mixed opinions on the earbuds... they fit some people better than others. I've never had a problem with them and use them regularly while riding the train and working out at the gym. My reason for writing this review is to address the remote.)

What I like: Keeping my iPod tucked in my computer bag as I ride the train, with only the remote controller out. iPod thefts are a common crime where I live, and keeping it out of sight is at least one protective measure you can take. I can control the volume and playback very nicely and when I'm done, I turn off the iPod with the controller and tuck the earbuds in a side pocket. Very convenient. And as I mentioned above, the earbuds are fine for me. I'm not entirely too gentle with them so getting an extra set of them with the remote is OK. :)

What I don't like: As others have mentioned, the cable covering that protects the wiring as it connects to the part you plug into your iPod is not very sturdy. As the cable twists and moves about during normal jostling and shuffling about (even in a bag), that cable covering works loose eventually, exposing the wiring. And if the wiring in turn gets twisted, it definitely impacts playback quality. Typically I'll have diminished or crackling sound in one earbud or the other. If I twist the cable and/or push the covering back down (and this is difficult), it will be OK for a while. I've resorted to awkwardly wrapping that part with electrician's tape but it's only a stopgap measure. Hence I'm now buying my third remote. I'm probably going to try to secure it right from the go, to prolong the life of the remote, but I figure I'll be back here buying another one in a year or so.

The bottom line: It's convenient but not perfect. If you don't mind fumbling with the iPod as you listen on the go, you don't need this product. If you do buy it, treat the cable carefully and be aware that the covering will probably separate from the connector at some point. Hope that's helpful!

Great Product but 45 bucks?! 2006-12-25
I love this remote, I can keep my ipod in my pocket while on the train and control my music, the wire is a bit long especially when coupled with the earphones but, eh, not really a big deal. Why on earth is this thing 45 bucks?! I got this with my ipod, it came in the box. Nice product but I definitely wouldn't pay 50 dollars for it. :(

Please invest in some quality raw materials...... 2006-07-24
Well, the remote functions are great, they are very convenient & I have become hooked.....However that said, they really decided to spare the expense & used crappy materials to put this product together. They fall apart for no apparent reason. I am now on my 3rd remote & it has barely been a year....& why can't they just sell the remote by its self, now I am stuck with 3 crappy pairs of what seems to be the most uncomfortable ear buds ever made...they reaalllllly need to fix this & come out with something new....

Earbuds are great, the remote... 2006-04-04
The earbuds work fine and are a great replacement for your damaged or lost set. The remote works and does what it should, but it would be helpful if there were a menu button so you can change from one downloaded CD to another. As it is now, you can only change between songs on the downloaded CD you are listening to with the remote, and when you want to get to another CD, you have to pick up the iPod and do it from there.

This Buds for You 2006-03-22
These are the only earphones worth buying for your iPod. I tried to get some cheapies after I lost my originals, but they were horrible. These are a little expensicve, but so worth it.

I don't use the pause/skip attachment thing though. It makes the cord too long.

Earbuds fall out if you move 2006-03-04
The remote control is OK.

But the earbuds are horrible! They are very sensitive to your particular "ear anatomy". I suppose they fit for some people, but for me they are useless. They stay in for a few seconds, but don't dare do anything like running, walking, or moving your head and expect them to stay in.

Much better to get lightweight headphones with an over-the-head or behind-the-head band, or even the models with "hooks" that fit over the top of your ears.

NOT compatible with video ipos 2006-02-12
Please note that, despite the description, the remote does NOT work with all ipods with dock connector (the connector on the bottom of the ipod). The remote unit plugs into the headphone jack and adjacent connector on the top of the iPod. This adjacent connector does not appear on the top of the 5th generation video iPod.

Fortunately, my husband has an iPod mini so I gave this to him. Works great with that unit. My 3-star rating reflects the incorrect product compatibility information (which also appears on the product packaging).

Apple iPod Remote and Earbuds 2006-02-01
This product was just what I was looking for. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use it for my iPod since I don't have the dock connector. I gave it to my son, and he loves it. This is very useful since you don't have to always take your iPod out to skip to the next song or increase the volume. I just hope they have one without the dock connector.

Thanks
