Excellent add-on for the Olympus 2008-09-02
I purchased the TCON-1.7x tele converter lens to photograph small birds from a distance of 50 feet. Considering that it is a converter, my expectations for image quality were relatively low. However, the images are much better than I expected. The color and sharpness are excellent. Due to the length of the adapter and lens, I recommend using a tripod and shutter cable to reduce shake. If you're looking for a low-cost tele for the UZ550, this one is worth the price.

Great Telextender for Olympus SP-570UZ 2008-08-31
I bought this lens to use with the SP-570UZ, primarily to take bird and other nature photos. It has proved to be quite sharp (even more than I expected!) and to still allow me to work with reasonably fast shutter speeds.

Olympus Teleconverter Lens 2008-08-13
This teleconverter works well with a Panasonic Lumix FZ18 camera - nice to have 30+ optical zoom.

Works as adevertised 2008-06-23
Hi, this converter will work (as expected) near to full zoom.
The images are clear, but I haven't have the time to make full tests.

Works well. 2008-06-21
Bought this as a less expensive alternative for my Panasonic FZ50. Fits and works well. I had a Panasonic 1.5 converter I used with my FZ20 that I liked slightly better (more light gathering) but this lens works well.

Great value! 2008-02-08
I have a Panasonic Lumix FZ8 and wanted the tele-extender made by Panasonic for that camera. BUT the price...well, it was almost as much as the camera itself. I had read the opinions of others about using this Olympus version and they were very positive. I took the chance and couldn't be more pleased. Very sharp, though I don't know if the Panasonic is cheaper since I can't compare. And much cheaper.

The only downside is a minor one and that is the lack of filter threads on the end of the lens. Not a biggie - I can improvise, but it would have been a nice thing to have.

Best Value among similar teleconverters. 2008-01-07
You must be careful about compatibility with your particular digital camera but this teleconverter works well with nearly all Olympus digital cameras and all Panasonic cameras manufactured before the end of 2005 (many others of all brands also but these are the ones I'm sure of). Note that you need an adapter in some cases. This item has 55mm threads. The only competitor generally thought to have slightly better quality is the Nikon TC-E17ED and it costs 4 times as much.

A very good conversion lens 2007-12-18
This is a very good teleconversion lens. Since the lens has five elements, optical correction is high and images are sharp and accurate. I previously owned another teleconversion lens with only three elements and corner sharpness was less and color aberrations were noticeable. I believe this lens is very similar to several other models sold under Panasonic and Canon branding, but they are significanly more expensive. I successfully use the Olympus teleconversion lens with both a Panasonic Lumix FZ7 and a Canon A540.

Well constructed, the TCON-1.7X has 55mm threads to mate with a camera's standard lens mounting. If you don't have the same size thread, an inexpensive adapter ring (step-up or step-down) is required. Also, don't forget that your camera will probably require an intermediate ring/collar that attaches between it and the lens; most digital cameras have specific models at reasonable prices that fit perfectly. As always, read the manufacturers specifications closely before purchasing. Good luck and happy shooting!

Pretty good deal 2007-11-10
I got the Olympus TCON-1.7x Telephoto Conversion Lens for my SP510-UZ, to get better pictures of birds. As a rank amateur, both of photography and birding, it is very helpful to be able to shoot from a greater distance and have confidence that the shot will show at least some detail. I do have a little trouble getting the lens to screw onto the adapter tube, and don't know enough about photography to get great pictures, but the lens definitely brings the subjects much closer. I'd recommend it.

In a couple of hundred pages, it includes using a scanner and Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 to rescue faded, damaged family photos, the basic guidelines to good picture taking, how to use Elements 2 to improve your digital photos, and how to print and preserve your pictures for the ages. Review: "This Camera is one of the best in its price range. It takes beautiful clear pictures and can be used right out of the box, but its worth learning all its features. The included memory holds about 20-25 pictures so I upgraded to 128mb. I reccomend getting a 128mb card and the Sony camera case. Not only is this one of the best cameras in its class it includes decent software and rechargeable batteries that are at least a 20$ value.
HIGHLY reccomend over canon, kodak, and fuji. One more thing this camera has CARL Zeiss lens (if you dont know, great lens) all the competetors have generic lens."
