Editorial Review
Light rays which are reflected by any surface become polarised and polarising filters are used to select which light rays enter your camara lens. They allow you to remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water, glass etc. They also saturate colors and increase contrast. Polarizers come in two variations but have the same effect. Linear polarizers work with older camera meters; Circurlar polarizers are designed for today's newer split-beam metering systems used in auto focus cameras. Check your camera's manual.

Buyer beware - falls apart 2008-02-19
It appears that many buyers have had this filter fall apart on them. I had the same experience. Within a few weeks of use, it fell apart. The metal piece inside fell out. I was able to reassemble it, but it soon came a apart again At the moment, there's no sign of the metal interior part, so I think it's dead for good. Way too expensive for this sort of performance. I think Hoya is now off my list of acceptable vendors.

If you're going to spend money... 2007-12-25
... then go ahead and spend it on something not so cheesy. I agree with the other reviewers. The cir-polarizer works great when it works, but the way this filter is constructed is faulty. I too unscrewed the filter and had it fall apart on me.

I wish I had spent just a little more and gone with s Singh-Ray or something. Now I'm just out the $70 dollars I spent on this thing. I could not in good conscience recommend this product.

Broke unexpectedly 2007-11-04
Mine worked fine for several months, with little or no abuse. Rotation was smooth. One day, simply unscrewing from the lens, it came apart (the metal ring inside it detached from the threading and the glass, so now it's in like 3 parts) and was told by several repair shops to simply get a new one, no repair possible. I would have not minded if I had at least bumped it or something, but the filter was always treated carefully. Next time I'll probably buy one of the expensive ones...

A good filter so far 2007-07-09
After reading the other review, I was worried I might end up with a sub-par Hoya product, when they normally do such great work. When the filter arrived, I immediately tested out the rotation. Very smooth and easy to rotate, it did feel a tad weak. In practice, it worked to produce fantastic shots. It definitely held together in a rough environment for one shoot, and I'll update as I use it for more shoots. Hopefully the previous reviewer just had a faulty copy.

UPDATE: After about two months of ownership, this thing fell apart on me, while I was on a beach. Needless to say, cleanup of the pieces was a pain, but I did manage to put it back together. However, it caused me to fail to catch a beautiful sunset the way I had hoped to. I must downgrade my rating for this failed product to 0/5 stars!

Quality lacking 2007-05-09
The polarization is great, loved the pictures when the product worked. Used it on a shoot location for 3 days when it came apart and will not stay together. Photography is my living and the lense was not abused! Contacted the seller thru email and very disappointed in feedback. Got a two word response like English was a bad second language. Issue still not resolved. Go for a higher quality than Hoya when selected a polarizer lense. It's worth the extra money!

In a couple of hundred pages, it includes using a scanner and Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 to rescue faded, damaged family photos, the basic guidelines to good picture taking, how to use Elements 2 to improve your digital photos, and how to print and preserve your pictures for the ages. White, the author of the bestseller "How Computers Work," knows how to pack a lot of helpful, understandable information in a brief no nonsense book.

Review: "This Camera is one of the best in its price range. It takes beautiful clear pictures and can be used right out of the box, but its worth learning all its features. The included memory holds about 20-25 pictures so I upgraded to 128mb. I reccomend getting a 128mb card and the Sony camera case. Not only is this one of the best cameras in its class it includes decent software and rechargeable batteries that are at least a 20$ value.
HIGHLY reccomend over canon, kodak, and fuji. One more thing this camera has CARL Zeiss lens (if you dont know, great lens) all the competetors have generic lens."

The fact is a camera’s megapixel rating is only a measure of how many pixels (photosensitive sites) an image sensor has….
