An OTC lifesaver for expensive medicine!!

It's a better life with the use of prilosec

I use to, like many, wake up in the middle night grabbing my chest in pain, not being able to sleep. I started taking this and life is better. This is going to sound foolishly irresponsible, but now, I eat whatever I want and still be fine when I'm sleeping. Whatever parts of my body (and figure) may be deteriorating but as far as heartburn goes, i don't feel a thing.

I've been taking this for over 2 years now. I know the box says you should stop after a few weeks, but I have no plans for that (and my doctor said it was fine). It does take a few days, like the box says for the medicine to work.

I have gradually tried to go to a cheaper generic version of the prilosec (the back of the box list the same thing!) but for some reason, whether it is illogical or psychological, i feel that the prilosec brand is by far the best and worth the extra money. My suggestion is the check out ebay where you can get it for about 2/3 of the listed price here on amazon or your local store.

One of thing, if this applies to you - there seems to be some sort of coating the the prilosec pills. With the generic ones, i can taste the chalking of it, meaning it starts to break up once you put it in your mouth, leaving you with that nasty taste until you grab your cup of water. But the prilosec, it is dry and you have a few seconds to sallow.

I had severe Acid Reflux/Heartburn usually requiring me to take multiple antacids throughout the day. Some days I would consume as much as 8000mg of calcium carbonate a day. With prilosec OTC one pill a day does the job. Enchiladas or fried foods it makes no difference. The burn is gone.

I take this in combination with Aloe vera juice. The prilosec keeps the acid at bay, and the Aloe vera juice helps my esophagus to heal.

Prilosec works like a charm

I'm a 23 year old male and was waking up with painful heartburn almost every night. It was affecting the quality of sleep I was getting, and I was concerned it could develop into something more severe, so I talked to my doctor. He prescribed 3 months of Prilosec, which I began taking immediately. After the first day, the heartburn was gone. I have only since had problems when I miss a dose. It has now been a year, and I am taking Prilosec OTC 20mg to continue my treatment. I no longer have insurance and couldn't afford the prescription, but using Amazon's incredible subscribe and save offer I can afford to continue taking Prilosec. My life could not be quite so comfortable without this wonderful little pill.

Misleading discount

This product is good (my husband swears by it), but listing it with an original price of $99.99 is ridiculous! This sale price is only a couple of dollars cheaper than most stores.

How can you possibly say that a 42 pack of Prilosec sells for $100 anywhere?????

I have acid reflux. If I remember to take my Prilosec, acid reflux is a non-issue. :) Really takes care of all the symptoms and I can forget all about acid reflux.

Prlosec is a great product and I use it every day. However watch what you pay. Even before shipping costs you can find the 42-tablet package for under $25 -- at Target for instance.
