the making of the Dark side of the Moon Pink Floyd 2008-07-13
For those of us who enjoy Pink Floyd and the classic Dark side of the Moon, the band takes you through the process of the recording, inspirations etc.
I couldn't rate this any higher!

Inside The Studio, Comprehending The Concept 2008-04-01
Part of a series that originally aired on VH-1, the importance of chronicling the production of this album is a vital piece of rock-n-roll history.

Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright are interviewed about the writing and recording process, which was truly a band effort.

There is concert and studio footage, video clips and original demo recording sessions. Interesting sidebars include the commentary by engineer Alan Parsons and cover artist Storm Thorgerson, whose concept is a defining moment in the merging of art with music.

New ground was being paved in studio techniques and there is special focus on the creation of the clock loops on Time, the cash register sounds on Money and the stunning vocal chorus on The Great Gig in the Sky.

The DVD is essential for Pink Floyd fans and music historians, as grand light is shed on the brilliant work done to produce a classic album.

This movie was ok but compared to some of there other videos, it was not the greatest.

Pink Genius 2007-12-12
This DVD takes you behind the scenes and lets you see the genius of Pink Floyd. After a short intro of what Pink Floyd was up to before "Dark Side Of The Moon", the bandmembers tell the story of how they made the greatest album in history. They walk you through each song, letting you know how the musical and lyrical ideas came about. You find out what instruments were used for particular sections of the album. The most interesting part, for me, was finding out about the "talking" you hear when you listen to the album. They let you know who said what and why. The album's engineer, Alan Parsons, is also featured. He gives you the lowdown on the different tracking techniques used for each song. The DVD also contains archival footage of the band recording parts of the album and Bonus Interviews that pertain to the music and lyrics as well as the graphics used on the cover. I own quite a few "Classic Album" disks and I have to say this is the best one of them all. It takes the experience of a "Headphone Classic" recording even farther than I thought possible. Genius!

This is Pink Floyd taking us through time. A good documentary. In fact, the whole Classic Album series is a must for any music fan.

The best in the Classic Album DVD Series 2007-09-04
I have watched several of the Classic Album DVD's, including Steely Dan/Aja (which is excellent, and probably my favorite band/album), The Who/Who's Next (which is OK), and Cream/Disraeli Gears (which even though I'm a big fan, was not that great). Anyway, this one, Pink Floyd/Dark Side of the Moon is by far the best. It just grabbed me and had me mesmerized from start to finish. The scenes with David Gilmour playing solo electric and pedal steel versions of Breathe, and Us and Them are so amazing, I can't even find the right words to describe it. Gilmour is hands down the best guitar player in the classic rock genre. I was also impressed with the solo piano playing of Rick Wright as he talked about coming up with some of the chord changes and turnarounds in Breathe and Us and Them. But, I think what really blew me away the most was the thoughtful and interesting perspective that Roger Waters puts on the whole project throughout the documentary. Watching this DVD has convinced me that it is definitely no accident that this album spent something like 741 consecutive weeks on the Billboard charts. Just remember, "there is no dark side of the moon, really, matter of fact it's all dark...." Grab this one, you won't be disappointed.

as if the album wasn't awesome enough, now you can get a good look at how the best album of all time was created with all the interviews from the band.

The Beatles opened the doors for rock'n roll, but Pink Floyd went from an RnB band to Progressive rock. This LP is their Sgt. Peppers. There are not too many living legends as great as this group.

Awesome! 2007-07-30
The way this 'documentary' was put together is very slick. They blend/match the members of the band playing their parts of the music with archived footage from 30 years ago. David Gilmour and the others are very thoughtful in their memories/summary of the experience. A very classy tribute to one of the greatest, music changing albums of all time.
