The X75 is not bigger than a regular printer, but allows you not just to print, but to copy and scan as well. It is small enough to fit on a standard shelf or in narrow areas, easy enough to be used by the entire family. The X75 is the perfect creative tool for all your print, scan and copy requirements. The X75 is the future of Personal Printing! This quick Lexmark solution prints up to 11 pages per minute in mono and 6 pages per minute in color at a 2400 x 1200 dpi for brilliant photo-quality output. The easy-to-use copying machine allows copying of photos, magazines, books and more at up to 9 pages per minute in mono and 4 pages per minute in color. High-resolution easy scanning at 600 x 1200 dpi and 48-bit color recognition (281 trillion colors) also lets share and enhance photos.

Never Had a Problem 2005-10-02
I've had this printer for a couple of years now, and never had a problem with it. It rarely jams and the quality of scanning and printing is always excellent. (I don't do photo printing, so I can't evaluate that.)

The printer cartridge may seem more expensive, but capacity is listed as 410 pages, vs. 150 pages with some other cartridges, so it is priced comparably.

The one drawback is that this is a pretty big printer compared with some of the others out there.

Boo! 2004-07-27
Initially, this printer worked OK for scanning some friend's photos and printing out on photo paper for some cute little frames around the house. After a short time, however, this thing became more of a headache that it was worth. The paper is constantly jamming, tearing, crumping... you name it. The ink cartridges always need cleaning (which takes up a LOT of ink), and the quality quickly and obviously declines when choosing NORMAL over BETTER or BEST quality printing. It's become too costly to upkeep, so we decided to get a HP laser printer instead for the mostly document-type printing we do, and have been pleased with the switch. We still keep it around for scanning purposes, but that's about it.

Its decent, that's it 2004-07-15
The X75 is with me for 8 months, purchased from Circuit City at about $40. I am scanning extensively. I am printing also, but the cartridge being small and costly, I try not to print much. Be aware that its what you pay for. Get it cheap, go for it. Wait for good discounts and clearance on this one. Then you will be happy and smiling because it does everything you need scan, copy, print. The software is also good and I am satisfied with that. Not bad, this one!

really mediocre 2004-07-06
My husband and I bought this "all-in-one" printer a couple years ago for $129... After a few months the scanner stopped working, since we were still under warranty, we managed to have it replaced, however, I have to say that it is a really mediocre printer, the paper jams a lot, the printing is never even, the ink cartridges are very small, etc. Right now I am buying another printer and will keep this one as a scanner only, for as long as it will work (cross my fingers). Look for another printer while you are still on time.

Mediocre at Best 2004-06-25
You can't get a better 3-in-1 printer/scanner/copier for this price. Of course, you can most definitely get a better 3-in-1 if you're willing to pay just a bit more. The Lexmark x75 is as mediocre as they come. The print resolution is sufficient for text documents, but less than good for graphics and pictures. The same can be said for the scanner function. On the plus side, the copier (copies in color and b&w) can operate independently from the PC at the push of a button. The older models require you to operate all the functions (print/scan/copy) through your PC, which means that you'd need to turn on your computer just to make a quick copy.

In terms of operation, this machine is very buggy. About 1/4 of the print jobs do not register. The error message tells you to fiddle with the USB then with the power supply cable. What you really need to do is restart your computer each time, then it'll spit out all the backed up print jobs in the queue. About 1/3 of the time, the first several sheets of your copy jobs come out as a giant black rectangle that covers the entire sheet of paper. Once it warms up, the remaining copies usually come out okay. Fortunately, it doesn't do that with the print jobs. To add insult to injury, this thing is an ink guzzler. The ink cartridges are not refillable and are expensive to replace.

Despite all the bugs, I'm giving this item 2 stars. It really saves your butt, say on the evening of April 15th when you need to make a couple copies of your tax forms before you head to the 24hr post office. Besides, what did you expect from a cheapy little printer?

GREAT QUALITY FOR CHEAP!!! 2007-08-21
I've had this printer for 3 years. I've NEVER had a problem with it. Sure, it's not as fancy as current printers on the market, but all that stuff is just extra for you to waste money on. Good quality in photos. Great with documents.

You can better 2007-05-13
The Lexmark X75 burns through ink. Worse, it is a cheaply manufactured product that breaks down after about two years of use. Specifically, it starts feeding multiple pages at once. The color functionality stopped working. Finally, if you own a Mac steer clear. Lexmark does not update the drivers and therefore you lose the diagnostics tools.

Okay but... 2007-01-02
This printer is okay, but is difficult to install without the Installation CD with Drivers that come with the system in its original package. I have been fighting with my computer for over a week, and still cannot install the Printer to my printers..Such a hassle. If you purchase this product, DO NOT lose the installation CD.

Good Printer, Expensive Ink, No network Capability 2005-10-30
I bought this printer at Office Max for less than $50. They dropped down the price because lexmark is not going to make it anymore. It is a good printer that has many features (printing, scanning, and faxing). The quality of the output is acceptable.

Cons:
The ink goes out quickly and it is very expensive. I don't even know how many pages you print before it you buy another ink (black). All I can remember it does not last. If you buy that ink 3 times during the year you will probably spend that money on a new printer.
Another thing I found out is you can not network this printer. I have router with an USB print-server built-in. I tried to network the printer it was not working. I called the helpline and they told me this printer does not have that capability. So I have to hook it to one computer and share it with other computers.

Overal, I would not recommend this but it is good printer though.

worst printer 2005-10-13
i bought this printer for $50 at best buy. i thought i was getting the bargain of a lifetime for a printer/scanner/copier. i worked great at the begining the only drawback was expensive ink cartridges. eventually it stopped working and there was an entire slew of problems. over all this printer sucks dont buy it.
