Great for venting a room 2008-07-18
For starters, no conventional motor fan is ever going to be "quiet", including this model. I attempted to use this in my bedroom but after about 10 minutes realized that while it vented the hot air effectively, it was also too loud and I wouldn't be able to sleep. So now I mainly use this fan either in my office or in the kitchen. For a lightweight unit it is very powerful and really does a great job at venting hot air and maintaining air circulation. If you purchase this fan, please don't think that this will replace an A/C unit, but it will work okay for a single room.

Strong little fan 2008-07-17
I bought this fan to cool an upper bedroom. I live in Seattle, and nneded to draw air in from the bedroom window; I wedged it into the side-sliding window. I was pretty happy with the outcome, and I bought another model from Kmart for about the same price for my wife's side of the bed. (We have a huge triple window over the bed.) The KMart model suffers badly in the comparison. The Honeywell moves significantly more air...wish I had bought it again.

Small & Very Effective 2008-07-16
I bought this fan after reading all the reviews. I found it to be a great buy specially in light of the rising energy prices. Whats great about the fan is that it has a Supply/Exhaust mode which workd great in areas like the kitchen. It can be carried to any room & does keep it cool. You can even stop using the A/C with this fann running due to the temperature control function. I onoy wish it a bit sturdier construction. The plastic is not as robust as one would have liked. But overall i am very satisfied with my buy. I would recommend it to anyone who is in the market to buy one. For the price its the bang for your buck.

Great energy saver 2008-07-14
I purchased two of these units for my kids rooms. It seems that the limited airflow through my house originally forced me to turn on the A/C to cool them down. Now, I can turn these on and they cool their rooms in a matter of minutes.

They are quiet, easy to install and a real bargain for the amount of electricity they save.

My only regret is that I didn't purchase a third for my room.

It's TOO loud. 2008-07-14
I've had a Bionaire window fan for more than a year and loved it and decided to buy one more window fan. Since this Honeywell fan got far better reviews than the bionaire fan, I decided to go with Honeywell instead of bionaire. That was a mistake. This is way too loud. Even with the low speed setting, i have to turn up the volume really high to watch TV. It's that loud. If you want to use it for your bedroom, I don't think it's possible. If you want to just relax with fresh air blowing in, I don't think it's possible, either. Also, with the fresh air mode, which's supposed to get fresh air from outside, I don't think it works well. I'm really disappointed at my choice this time.

Honeywell HW-628 2008-07-25
Pros
exhaust and fan work great in 100 degrees + in Chino, CA

Cons
Loud
reluctant to mount harware into new vinyl molded windows

great fan 2008-07-24
nice fan - fits in lower sash of window - would be ever nicer if it would fit in top of window - I purchased four (4) fans, and had to make supports for them fit in top of windows for true exhauts effort - they work very well, I'm pleased with the fans

The best fans I ever bought for the hot summer nights 2008-07-22
The original fan I bought says that I bought it in 1998, which atonished me considering how hard I worked it before one of the fans motors decided to not worked any longer during the end of the summer of 2006, I ran it for 24 hours a day for 3-4 months every year. I live on the second floor and during the summer this apartment can get up to 100 degees inside, it was impossible to get a decent nights sleep. Then I came across "[[ASIN: 105-1061563-7871465 Honeywell HW-628 twin window fan. "]]" That night I put it in the window on exhaust and for the first time I had to use a light blanket to sleep, that's how much it helped to bring in the cool air in from the small window across the room with the help of a fan. It's quiet, it does the job and I love it and I recommend it to everyone who has the same problem. Now I put a large fan in my kitchen to carry out the hot air and I am able to deal living in this apartment through the hot summer nights and days much easier and with more comfort. It was worth every dollar I spent on it. I bought another brand for the living room and it didn't have as much power even though the price was the same, it wasn't worth it.

Not as good as the fan I purchased a year ago 2008-07-21
I purchased this fan because I already own one and it's great. The fastening devise for the accordian sides has been changed. It's easier to operate the current fasteners, but they don't hold the accordian sides open when the fan is in a vertical window opening. I will have to think of a way to rig the sides so they stay extended (not necessary with my older Honeywell fan). The fan does work great for exhausting air out of my apartment and for cooling (the room with the fan is usually between 8 and 12 degrees cooler than the rest of the apartment).

Great Fan I'm Sure, if it WORKED. 2008-07-21
On a 98 degree day in the city, I opened the box and installed the fan in my window. When I turned it on, it didn't work. After checking all the outlets, etc, I finally had to take it out and send it back.
