Excellent Shoes

I had friends who owned these shoes and they loved them so I finally bought a pair and I now understand what all the fuss is about. I love them, they took a couple of weeks to break in and they made my feet sore, but after that, they fit perfectly. I wear them almost every day, even in the winter with socks. I highly recommend them.
Comfy and wonderful 2008-09-01
I love these sandals. It took two days for my foot with a bunion to break the sandal in and since they have been totally comfortable. They're great for walking and I love the toe caps. For klutzy people like me, the protection is nice!
I read lots of reviews before buying these. I'd like to counter some of the negatives and agree with one, if it can be called a negative:
1/ Several people recommended buying one size up. I ordered my regular shoe size, which was more than roomy enough.
2/ Some people claimed their feet smelled after wearing the Keens. The soles actually smell like vanilla, and if my feet smell at all, it's like vanilla. A coworker actually commented that I smelled good when I walked by after being outside on a hot day!
3/ People said they pick up sand. I found this to be true even when walking across a parking lot. Something about the cupped heel and sole does make it hard to remove sand or grit without taking them off. But I consider it a small drawback to the most comfortable sandals I've ever had.

Mother's Day hit 2008-06-14
Newport Leather Faded Clay Sandal -Ladies
My mother has admired my Keen Newports and I decided to get her some for Mother's Day. The leather ones are so hard to find in a color I liked. Things seems to have gone the way of the H2s. I got her the Newport Leather in Rum Raisin/Plum Kitten. I've never seen a plum kitten, but whatever. The shoes are a really nice red-brown color that actually occurs in nature.
She says they are the most comfortable shoes she ever wore. She and my Dad immediately went out of town and did a lot of walking and they needed no breaking in whatsoever.
I did really well for Mother's Day. She will probably wear them several times a week.
As for mine, I have had them for years. They show a little wear, mostly a slight "maturing" of the color compared to Mom's. They didn't stretch out, I love the stretchy no-tie lace, the sole is not separating and hasn't compressed much. The stitching is intact. I have been through water and mud. I will soon order another pair, but considering how much I have worn them and to have them still be serviceable is pretty impressive.
For anyone who has ever started out on a nice dog walk and has ended up chasing said dog through the woods for an hour, these are the perfect shoes for you!

great shoe 2007-10-11
diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, I've tried several shoes. this one was recommended by the owner of an old-fashioned shoe store when I wanted sandals for boating. they're terrific! though I've found nothing to alleviate my foot pain altogether, these are absolutely the most comfortable things I've found; even (much) better than the podiatrist-recommended New Balance 928's. fantastic traction on the boat. great price here on Amazon,too.
Best shoe available 2007-09-27
After years of being in the bush I have finally found a shoe that not only holds up but holds but holds the wearer up. Great traction and even better foot support. My whole family has these shoes as well as all my staff. Get them wet, run them in the mud, no worries, they hold up. Love these shoes.
Comfort rules! 2007-01-03
Like all Keen shoes, although goofy looking, the Newport sandals are SO comfy. I'll sacrifice style for comfort every time.
