Does what it promises

This is my third set of noise cancelling headphones. This one works well, is lightweight, doesn't make a loud buzz when the noise cancellation feature is working and has good sound quality. The only improvement I would make is to add volume control to the headset.
trade offs

I have had these headphones for well over a year.
OK sound and the noise reduction (not cancellation) works.
I am sure there are far better products that provide superior noise cancellation and sound, HOWEVER given the price, this is a real value.
Happy with my purchase and have used them on a plane, mowing the lawn and on a noisy treadmill.
Well worth the price.
Mediocre noise cancelling but great sound

My title says it all. These are good headphones with good sound quality. Noise cancelling is there but not enough. I am not sure how these would compare with a Bose for example.
Headphones are not padded and they can begin to hurt the head if worn for too long.
Great product at a great price

These headphones are better than I had hoped for. They deliver great sound with plenty of volume at half my Zune's volume setting. The noise reduction is good, best at reducing ambient noise, especially engine sounds. It also folds up into a very small size and stows well with the storage bag included. Not one complaint.
Best bang for the buck

I bought this item from Amazon when it was on sale about 5 months ago. I've used it almost every work day since then and regularly on the 3 hr flights that I take.
In the workplace it does a good job of cancelling out the ambient noise and fair job of reducing the volume of chatter. I just turn off the noise cancelling and just listen to music instead of using the noise cancelling feature.
When flying is when I really appreciate its noise-cancelling abilities. It does a really good job of cutting out the engine noise, enough to listen to my music or watch the in-flight entertainment without turning it up all the way. It also comes with an airline adapter which let's you connect it the standard 3.5" to the two pronged airline jacks. The folding feature is also useful when travelling as it takes up a lot less room than regular models.
I also appreciate not having to fold the wire after every use. The auto-retract feature works well (The button on mine seems to stick from time to time, but it could just be my fingers!). Gotta see how long that lasts.
Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase and have recommended it to others who after checking it out have also purchased them.
You get what you pay for

These headphones produce not bad sound quality, but they are not comfortable to wear for more than 30 minutes.
Noise canceling works only for low frequencies and in the same time add some noise on high frequencies (i.e. in a quiet room I hear more noise when noise canceling turned on)
Great Headphone but can still hear some noises

Works great but not nearly as good as the BOSE quality one, but I guess you get what you pay for. Blocks out the very loud noise but not to the mute level.
Just fine

Got these while searching for work, via planes trains and other trains. They work fine to take the worst part out of plane travel and louder subways. While on one flight I borrowed somone's BOSE headphones for a moment and the noise cancelling was a bit better. But not $300 better. I keep meaning to take these to a BOSE store and compare them. They have a great noise simulator there to show off their gadget.
I really like the retactable cord and I'm careful to hold the wire back while it gets snapped up. If you allow the spring to yank it at maximum speed it will wear out eventually. Not having to manage the wire like all those other folks is a real bonus.
And though I don't care for how they look on my head as I'm walking around, I am always suprised at how small a pants pocket they will fit into (one can at a time).
Does the job

I purchased the JVC HANC100 noise cancelling headphones primarily to use on airplane flights, mostly 4-6 hr domestic flights I take for business trips. After having used them on a couple of flights now, my overall opinion of the headphones is fairly positive.
Positives: Noise cancellation functions works pretty well, making listening to music or watching DVDs much more enjoyable. I can have the volume at about half what I woould use without the noise cancelling function.
Negatives: The noise cancelling function has definite frequency ranges it is better/worse at cancelling. It seemed to do the best with airplane engine noise when I was slightly behind wing mounted engines, rather than the frequency of noise forward of the engines.
The headphones are over-the-ear style with a small earcup. You may find the earcup cushion pushes on your ear and after 2-3 hours it can become uncomfortable.
Things to know: The headphone strap that goes over your head seems to be sized for a larger sized head.
Great Quality, Good Comfort (Small Cups)!

As someone else has said, the only drawback are the small cups or pads that don't go "around" your ear. I'm guessing that it is designed for size as well as comfort. These have been amazing on many Overseas trips that I have taken and going from Madrid to Vienna often.
Unless you see something else that must be better, this one is a good bet.
