Multi-Ladder Werner 22ft 2008-01-14
This ladder is the best thing since sliced bread in the ladder department. I can't tell you all the configurations I have used since purchasing this ladder. In fact I love it so much I purchased one for my son as a Christmas present for his new house. This is virtually the same ladder as the Little Giant at half the cost!! Since it is the 22ft size there is only one drawback. It is rather heavy to haul around and you should eat your Wheaties before using. But the added weight is there for a reason, it makes the ladder very flexible (in ways it can be used) and also very stable when you're standing on it. There is no fear of falling or tipping over in most situations. I also have the platform attachment, which I have not used yet. The only thing I would like to add to it is a leg extender for one side or the other, to use on side sloping situations. Then this ladder would be even better than it is now. I highly recommend it.

Made tough, works great. 2007-12-28
All extension ladders I've ever seen were fraudulent in their height specs. This one is no exception. For example, a 20 foot extension lader is made of two ten foot sections. Unless someone figures a way to make the two sections stick together end to end, they're not 20 foot ladders. Most extension ladders overlap a foot at their maximum height. That means a 20 foot ladder is really an 18 foot.

Seeing as this fraudulent point is industry wide, I can't fault Werner for false advertising. I bought the Werner 22 foot multi-ladder, and there's a sticker on the side that gives the actual lengths in the different modes. Their website has a chart which will give the same information. Other brands of multi-use ladders I've seen don't mention anywhere (that I've been able to see) what their actual heights are.

This ladder is very heavy because of the thick aluminum parts, but it's also very well made. The telescopic locks and pivot locks are very strong and positive. As a step ladder, it's minimum height puts the top rungs (of each half) at nearly five feet. The hinge point is another six inches above that. The telescoping occurs in one foot incriments (the spacing of each step). Each half of the ladder will telescope four more feet. This will give you about a nine foot step ladder at it's maximum height. Opened straight, minimum extension, the ladder is about eleven feet high. Open the ladder straight, both halves fully extended, and it's about nineteen feet high. Each end of the ladder is wider for stability, and at the foot and very top, the ladder is 28" in width. The rest of the ladder is just under 16" in width.

The ladder is fairly easy to operate, considering it's size. Fully extended to the nineteen foot point, however, is safer (or at least easier) with two people. The total collapsed length of around six feet fits just fine in the 6.5 foot bed of my pickup. It should also fit inside most minivans, and on the roof rack of almost any size vehicle.

This is a great ladder and a good value. If I had it to do over, I'd pick this same exact ladder.

Best Ladder for the Money 2007-12-22
This is a great ladder for the home. The only additional thing I can add to all of the other similar comments is that I used the full extension ladder right away to get to some gutters that need cleaning badly. At first I was a little apprehensive because as I started to climb up, this ladder was shaking up and down a little, which would not happen as must on a normal extension ladder. It was fine though....trust the ladder. It's made to handle plenty of weight at it's most extreme heights. Also, when using the full extension, I used the step up method for extending it. Fully extend one side, lift and prop it up against the wall, then extend the bottom in increments. I use this ladder by myself so having another set of hands isn't possible.

As for the weight, if you don't need the height of the MT-22 then go for the smaller versions to cut down on the weight. The other brands are not THAT much lighter for the same version. There is not much noticeable difference between 40 lbs and 45 lbs. Plus, I'd rather have the sturdy heavier ladder than a lighter one....standing 18' above the ground.

Werner 22 foot 2007-11-23
Nothing to add over other reviews. I have had this ladder for some time. It is a bit on the heavy side but then again it is very sturdy. It folds into a compact size and while it take more time than some ladders to get set up it replaces many of them. I keep a small four foot for quick indoor jobs but the 6 foot and 13 foot ladders went away and are placed by this one. I too saw the Little Giant Ladder on TV but did not want to pay the premium they charge for it. This is a very good option. Buy the height you need and not the largest one unless you need it as the design does add weight but makes it versatile and sturdy.

Great ladder for the price 2007-11-21
I bought this ladder for my husband as he wanted a little giant but for less money. So far this ladder has worked out for us and was a good price compared to other similar models.

werner ladder 2008-05-30
this ladder was very sturdy and reached to the top of our two story house with room to spare. Was very stable to climb

Unlimited usage 2008-05-10
This unit can handle what you need done! Your imagination is your limit....I have not been disappointed by this ladder system yet

Multiladder 2008-03-28
This is a lot of ladder in one. Very strong and stable. It's worth the money.

ladder 2008-03-22
I bought this as a Xmas gift so as not to have to keep borrowing a taller ladder from neighbors. Works great - but as already noted is a bit difficult for one slighter woman to manage. Stores neatly- price was much better on Amazon than at the local Lowes Store

MT series ladders no longer include extra hinges... 2008-01-28
My Werner MT-22 ladder did not include the extra hinges as advertised...I contacted Werner and they confirmed all MT series ladders no longer include the extra dynamic hinges...You simply reverse one set of legs and use the j-locks to connect them...Just the same as the Little Giant...I was quite disappointed in this because those hinges are much more secure regardless of the BS that Werner is putting out as an upgraded design...It's not...This was the only area where the Werner was superior to the Little Giant in design and function...Now there is nothing...

I also purchased a Little Giant to compare...There is no doubt the tolerances on the Little Giant are MUCH closer...When those top hinges snap into place there is absolute no play with the Little Giant while the Werner has plenty...Also the side j-lock pins pivot more on the Werner...All this can be excused by saving around $150 with the Werner I guess...If I used mine daily I would get the Little Giant as it has a full lifetime warranty and really is built better whereas the Werner has NO official warranty...Anyone who states the Werner is a twin to the Little Giant in everyway is mistaken...Get them side by side and really check the tolerances etc. real close and the quality of the Little Giant really jumps out...

I would have given it a 4, but the hinge exclusion has left a sour taste in my mouth...What really bugs me is Werner has admitted they stop including those hinges over 5 months ago but they still state they are included on the basis that a miniscule amount of stock with them are still out for sale...Seems like customer honesty has been lost with Werner coming out of bankruptcy...

Overall I would buy the MT-22 again, so that's what counts....
