Grandmom says, Wonderful gadget!
2008-02-25
This stand proved to be better that I expected. It holds large, heavy (read coffee table) books easily and is so portable as to be a pleasure. Folds very thin and can slip in the smallest tote or brief case. Also great for the morning paper (don't want to gump up your paper while you're buttering your bagel!); but if you are only a paperback reader, I'd give this one a pass. For the price, what's not to like!
Great Little Gadget

This is a great little stand for text books. Anyone who spends hours on the computer while using a book would appreciate having one. It's been a huge help to me for minimizing neck strain. It's sturdy enough to hold hefty text books and couldn't be any easier to use. It was delivered very quickly too.
Heavy metal, holds big books -- GREAT!

Since college, I've used a smaller model of wire bookstand that's the most common kind. It's what you always see in office supply stores and the school supplies aisle in drug stores. The problem is that the small models won't hold big books like a programming tutorial I'm using at the moment.
However, the Easi-Reader bookstand is exactly what I needed. Its frame is large enough to accommodate almost any size of book, and it's constructed of wire thick enough to hold heavier books.
This bookstand probably isn't the best choice for smaller books. The smaller-model bookstands hold small books open better. But for big books, the Easi-Reader is terrific.
Perfect for very thick books

This is a great bookstand for very thick books. I use it for my law school casebooks. The angle is not adjustable, but that is not a high priority. It folds very flat for easy portability.
Best Bookstand

I've used my EASI-READER for about ten years for all kinds of things from huge graduate school textbooks to technical journals to paperback novels to cookbooks to single sheets of paper from which I am typing. I just put a piece of cardboard or any magazine or a file folder behind the single sheet to hold it upright. I've carried this handy, foldable stand with me on many travels. I plan to buy more EASI-READER's to give to my grandkids to encourage them to read more. I am glad that the product's name is carved into the stand itself, because that's how I was able to locate it on the Internet. I have the black stand; I hope that the chrome one is identical.
awesome!

I got this today in the mail and have only used it for one book so far (Internal Medicine Just the Facts, a paperback but medium thickness book) and it is great! At first when I saw it I wondered how such a thin and flimsy appearing thing would be able to hold up a book but it works. Haven't tried it with anything but 1 book so far, but I'm excited. I recommend getting it from Independent Living Aids because they have cheaper shipping and handling.
Book Stand Review

Currently using the bookstand for propping up my textbooks because my laptop takes up quite a bit of desk space. Simple but easily adjustable design, great for students who need to free up desk space as they study or take notes. :)
good for big books

I bought this stand for my husband. His neck hurts him when he looks down for too long. this stand easily handles a large textbook.
not for me

as a handicapped person, this stand did not work for me. the legs kept sliding.
Great for hardbacks, textbooks

Very simple and cheap, but not much is needed from a book stand. Some reviewers complain that it doesn't hold paperbacks, but one can easily see from looking at it that it wouldn't be good for that, so I didn't knock it.
I use this stand to hold my textbooks up while I'm reading and taking notes, which is really nice to keep from having to hunch over a book to read it flat on a table. Also it allows the book to take up less desk space, which is nice when reading and using a computer at the same time. Since it's light and collapsable, it's also very useful to take along to classes and have the same benefits in the classroom as well.
