Certainly does the job, keeps pages down nicely and seems to be well-made. The leather feels good (though not supple) and the stitching is tight and sturdy. I expect this to last.

I really like this product because it keeps my hands free while I read. If I could change it I would like it just maybe and inch longer or a tad bit heavier in the weights.

This Book Weight is longer than my other one, and works better on larger books, as it is also a bit heavier. Grips the pages well also. Give it an A+.

Works well, but be careful...

This bookmark is heavy and long, making it perfect to hold down pages so that you can read a book hands-free. This is very useful when taking notes from a book when the book doesn't want to stay open by itself. However, there is black dye or paint on the edge of the bookmark and it rubs off leaving small marks on pages when you pick it up or put it down or slide it back and forth. To avoid this, I turn the bookmark upside-down so the black edge doesn't touch. It's not a big deal to me, and I believe the bookmark is worth purchasing despite this drawback, but it would be nice if they offered this bookmark without the black edge.

Although this bookweight does the job and I was initially pleased with it, I soon found that the edge of the leather is stained black and the stain leaves the book pages with black marks that can't be removed. Merely picking the bookweight up and moving it to a new page causes marks and if you slide the bookweight down the page, you will have a lot of marks. I am contacting the company to see if they make a version with no stain.

Feb. 2008 - As an update to this review, three emails to the company went unanswered as did a phone call, thus negating the chance that I will order anything else from them.

It's a little rough around the edges, but not enough to not buy another one. Compared to $40 and $50 weights I've seen, this is a very good deal. My wife asked me to order her one now.

Works great for keeping down pages and travels well in bag. The leather makes it very durable. I use all the time for a year now and still looks like new.
Just don't play around with it much because it hurts like a dickens if you hit the bad side of your hand with it.

This does the job and it was a great price. I looked many places and an item such as this was easily twice the price and that was if you could even find one in the marketplace.
