Wonderful Game
2006-12-19
My six year old LOVES this game! She has played it over and over and keeps getting better at it. I am so impressed with the graphics and I like the challenges that make her think. ie. making pathways with logs, using colors to decode...stuff like that. I highly recommend this.
Long game, with lots of repeats and can't finish!

I just got this game for my 4.5 year old daughter. I played with her all day yesterday; I was happy to see that it was more challenging than the other Barbie games she has (Rapunzel and Swan Lake - both very good but a bit short and very easy). We hit a few tiny bugs that forced us to exit from a task and re-start it, but nothing too bad... until the BIG ONE. I had read that other peopple had experienced that bug, when Erika has to give flowers to three village singers and the game gives us an error message "Lip mgr.play...no loaded lip synch data" and takes us out of the game. Very frustrating! I went to the support web site indicated in the booklet, and after being re-directed to another support company site, I saw that they have other Barbie games, but don't even list this one! So NO online support whatsoever, and apparently no way to fix that bug...
Apart from the bug, I would say that overall the game is good, with very pretty graphics, good navigation and good character interactions. On the negative side, 18 tasks are too many for a small girl, especially since many involve redoing the same actions (moving and grooming a cat, making banners, etc). Even before we hit the big bug, my daughter was starting to be bored and antsy. Being able to choose 2 levels of lengths/tasks would have been a big plus.
Best for 8 years old kids

Beloved game for any 8 years old kids. Younger or older will love it too. I definitely would recommend it to anyone who asks about it.
Wow! I'm impressed..........

My 8 year old girl has several Disney princess games and they're stupid, so I was skeptical about this. Way better then Disney. It's an excellent game, my daughter plays all the time. In fact the whole family likes to play it. From my 3 year old son to my "tough guy" husband. We like decorating cakes and making stain glass windows in a thousand different ways. The graphics, color, and sound are great. I highly recommend it. We have not experienced a bug like another reviwer did. I have not experienced that on any of my games.
This game is great!!! Best one yet!!

My daughter loves this game. She got it for christmas last year when she was 5 1/2. She still loves this game. And what I loved was that it took her a few days to finish, unlike some other games that she finished in one sitting, which is really frustrating to her, cause after playing the Princess and the Pauper, she kind of expects all the games to be great and have lots of things to do. The graphics are pretty cool, and there are lots of things to do, from making cakes, to making pretty stained glass windows, to decorating rooms, planting flowers and watering them and watching them grow, playing with and grooming the cats, helping the neighborhood people with tasks, and so much more, I can go on and on. I have no complaints about this game. My daughter has a nice collection of computer games, and this one is by far the best one yet! You definitely will not be wasting your money on this game!
Hours of fun, fun, fun, with Princess and the Pauper CD-ROM!

Barbie: Princess&The Pauper is a great action-filled adventure with Erika and Princess Annaliese! They'll work together to stop a villain before he can cause chaos to the Princess' land.
This is a great game if you know how to understand read words to you and know how to use the mouse you would be able to play.

This is a game where you are Erika and you have to complete many deeds in order to become the queen in three days. So, you have to complete all these tasks which requires you to go all over the town.
You get to bake cakes, take care of a kitten, grow flowers, and much, much more.
This is probably a great game for a kid ( probably a girl) who is at the age where she knows how to basicaly can understand words ( read to her) and knows how to use a mouse.
This is a really fun game but, as you get older you might still like it at the age of nine you don't have to like the Princess and the Pauper to play this game.

Lots of fun and good for improving little ones computer skills!

This was the very first computer game we ever bought for our then 5 year old daughter. I played the game with her at first but she figured it out pretty quick. We had lots of fun playing it together.
It teaches problem solving and kindness towards others. You have to use your brain to learn your way around the kingdom and remember where everyone is since all the characters have to be visited numerous times throuhout the game to accomplish different tasks.
I've read that some people weren't happy that it presses girls into a certain role, baking cakes etc. Well Erika has to chop wood and things like that, that's usually a job for a "man". And let's face it, Barbie is a girly girl, what's wrong with baking cakes and sowing etc.
Between finding keys to unlock royal tasks, baking, growing flowers, decorating, chopping wood, picking fruit, aligning logs to make a path across the swamp, rescuing kittens, feeding and playing with the kittens and finding talented singers for the choir this is an excellent game for young Barbie fans. There are many more tasks than that, to many to name and of course I have to leave some of it for you to find out.
We didn't encounter the bug as other people have mentioned and my daughter is playing the game for the second time now and all by herself without my help. I wonder if maybe some of the CD's are deffective, or maybe those peoples computer settings are different then the ones who didn't have that problem.
This was the perfect game to introduce our daughter to computer gaming and worth every penny. It has set the foundation for her to make it easier when she plays other games and has made her computer skills better.
A fun and creative game, but requires patience

My daughter played this game for hours and loved it. Some have said that there is a 'bug' that prevents you from finding the singers for the coronation. But it CAN be done.
Pretty good game

OK, first thing I want to say, I did not play this game from beginning to end when this review was written, but I watched my sister, Russian Blue Witch, play it and I played it from beginning to middle. It's a good game, I like the bright colors in the so-called banners (the banners look more like flags). I LOVE making cakes, but I don't like doing stained glass windows very much. Oh, I suppose I should tell you the basic plot. Well, you need to help Erika the pauper to become queen by doing some things you have to do before you can become queen. Anneleise helps with the decorating. (I like decorating!) You can find kittens by singing and take care of the kittens. (I like taking care of kittens!) And just for fun, you can take care of Serafina and Wolfie. But something I don't like is when you play with Wolfie, he meows. He barks, for goodness sake! I like the game, but I get bored of it when I play it for a long time. ~Chocolate Dog~
