Editorial Review
The new Nikon Action Extreme binoculars feature an all-metal chassis with lens fittings housed in a tough, lightweight polycarbonate body shell. Like all Nikon All Terrain Binoculars, the EX is nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed for total waterproof, fogproof and shockproof performance in any environment. The binocular bodies are ergonomically shaped, tripod adaptable and are rubber coated for a non-slip grip, whether wet or dry. The new Extreme ATB offerings utilize high-resolution lenses and prism systems crafted from Nikons exclusive Eco Glass, which is made without the use of arsenic or lead. This lens system provides an extremely clear, distortion-free image over the entire field of view. The lens elements each incorporate multi-layered anti-reflective coatings formulated to deliver optimum brightness, high contrast, true color rendition and flare-free viewing in most lighting conditions. The Extreme series binoculars each feature a unique, click-stop eyecup design that not only delivers long eye relief, but also allows for variable eye relief that is customizable to the users own eyes and eyeglasses. The binoculars are central focus with a diopter control to correct for normal right/left eye vision imbalance. The Extreme ATBs all feature Apparent Angles of view that exceed 65 degrees, making them true Wide Angle binoculars.

great for birding 2008-04-28
I was looking for bird and animal watching binoculars. And wanted something with significant magnification. 10x and 12x didn't seem like enough to me. 16x is perfect. a little jittery to hold but not a problem. certainly worth it for the increased magnification. i was impressed at how easy it was to sight, line up, and track objects. I thought it would be harder with 16x magnification. definitely recommend these binoculars. great feel, not too heavy, and visuals look excellent to me.

Good for steady hands 2008-02-25
Got this shipped from Amazon in perfect condition.
The clarity of the optics is terrific, just clear on any lighting condition. Try using it during the night and you will know what I mean. It would be like it does not eat up light at all as you see through it. As for the object details, I tried to read distant small size text in low light during night and it was perfect.

One mistake I did was to do ignore the weight of these, as it did not seem to be much. But if you are to hold it for longer periods, it does seem to matter with so much zoom power. My hands are not the steadiest but aint the shakiest either. I'm 32 now and can hold it steady for a few mins, after that you need to put an conscious effort to hold it steady.
Probably I should have tried the 8x model but I wanted more power. Since it was my choice of these, I gave it 5 stars and it does perfrom well as per the specs.

Nothing but good things to say about these glasses! 2008-02-20
Took them camping over the summer and really enjoyed them. They are great for wildlife viewing and stargazing. Nice wide field of view and crisp optics. I think that for the price they are hard to beat. You might need a tripod in some cases as they can get heavy. But, they will pull stuff in to view! I had them on a boat at Lake Shaver checking out the osprey and their nests. Very cool! Also enjoyed looking at star clusters and some nebulae at night. You'll like them too. Hard to find such high quality bincoulars for the price.

Good product with a few minor niggles 2008-01-27
Excellent binocular.
Solid build
the eye piece cover is fiddly -I have already broken it
Quite heavy

Really like them! 2008-01-14
This is the first pair of really good binoculars we have every bought. I can't believe how clear everything is. They work easily and although a little heavy, not bad. I would recommend these to anyone.

very pleased 2008-07-05
I am very pleased with this product. The light gathering ability and clear image due to the porro design is great.

I love it 2008-05-27
Good binocular. This is my first binocular, so I have no knowledge for any comment. Anyway, I am satisfied with it's quality

Excellent quality 2008-05-17
This is one of the cool product by Nikon. I just got it today and tested it by looking at moon and the experience is wonderfull. The soft touch and moderate weight has added advantage of this product. Overall quality is good except the field of view is little bit smaller but it doesn't make difference.
The package doesn't include the Tripod adapter which I have to buy it saperately.
Overall quality is good with this price.
Warnning. Dont buy more than 10X magnification, You will not be able to see without shakking. I suggest use Tripod if you go for more than 10x magnification.

Excellent with some shortcomings 2008-05-12
Very nice binoculars. Works perfect.

Now for shortcomings - the removable caps could have a better and more reliable placeholders, and they could be designed in a way that it's easier to remove and attach them from somewhere instead of hanging them on the strap.

12x50 might be slightly too magnified. The magnification is great, it's a human inability to hold it very steady making the viewing less than pleasurable. In retrospect, I could have compromised on magnification and instead picked a 8x. Might have been a better choice. It's totally usable though and magnification has its own benefits. No regrets.

The build quality feels very solid. Excellent equipment.

Great deal 2008-04-29
I am not an expert in optics (digital cameras, binoculars, etc) but I can make the difference between good quality and not so good quality. I believe that the Nikon Action 16x50 binoculars fit, by far, in the first category. I was still not sure if I made the right decision when I purchased these, since I red several cons along the multitude of pros. Some of them were shaky image (due to the high zoom), pretty heavy for long periods of watching. All I can say now is that they are true, but these things fade by far in comparison to what this baby has to offer. Namely stunning crystal clear and sharp image (even at the edges), extremely rugged and ergonomic construction, fogproof and waterproof.
All in all, I would give it 10 out of 10 in a heartbeat.

Review: "This Camera is one of the best in its price range. It takes beautiful clear pictures and can be used right out of the box, but its worth learning all its features. The included memory holds about 20-25 pictures so I upgraded to 128mb. I reccomend getting a 128mb card and the Sony camera case. Not only is this one of the best cameras in its class it includes decent software and rechargeable batteries that are at least a 20$ value.
HIGHLY reccomend over canon, kodak, and fuji. One more thing this camera has CARL Zeiss lens (if you dont know, great lens) all the competetors have generic lens."

An image sensor is simply one component of an entire system that produces a digital photograph… So resist buying into the megapixel hype when you’re choosing a digital camera. From Chapter 1
