Thule fairing

No more wind noises, I was dreading driving down to San Diego and back with the roof box. It would have been 2 days of the wooshing through the bars.
But changing to a more aerodynamic roof box solved the problems a lot. I am still keeping this fairing.
Reduce your wind noise! 2008-04-14
I bought this for the looks and also to reduce the wind noise of my thule bars, work grad and my montero looks like a Nissan Xterra

This is an excellent product and fairly easy to put together. Once installed it reduces wind noise from the rack/bars and though I have not yet run the numbers it should help MPG.

The fairing is pretty easy to install. I put it on my 2007 Durango. It took me about 30 minutes but I usually take my time on these kind of things.
Pluses:
It looks very nice and defintely cut down on some of the noise.
Minuses:
I could not get all of the "feet" to make contact with the vehicle so some have a gap, specifically the outside two. I noticed some noise in strong wind that may be attributable to this.
I installed the Thule Glide Set and Go Kayak carrier on my vehicle. The spacing of the fairing made it a difficult to fit this set as far to one side as I would like. This limits the space available for a car top carrier or other equipment. I have the 50in bars on my Durango. Wider bars may ovecome this limitation.
Overall I like it. Hopefully they will improve the next generation by adding a racheting feature (horizontal or vertical, not sure which would be better) to the fairing connectors, similar to what they have for their front saddles in the Glide Set and Go Kayak carrier.

thule 871 is a great fit for the 07 toyota FJ. fits great between OEM roof roack and reduces wind noise while underway greatly. solid product. i always use thule.
