description of this item is somewhat lacking since it is not clear what the difference is between the gold and silver batteries. It also is not readily apparent that this item includes just one battery, while the silvers come in pairs.
VersaPak gold are much better than the original 2008-06-18
I have been using the original VersaPak for years with good results. The 'GOLD' NiMH version is a major improvement due to the higher capacity and lack of memory. The slight cost over the original is well justified.

Good As Gold 2008-04-19
My VersaPak Gold battery arrived fully charged and hasn't lost a milli-amp after driving dozens of screws without being re-charged. It is superior to the nicad battery it replaced and upgrading to NiMH is worth the higher price. I also liked not having to pay for another charger that I didn't need.

I kind of wonder about using these new batteries with the old chargers, they seem a bit warm all the time, but so far performance has been great.

This battery works very well and has lasted much longer than the stock batteries in my cordless vaccuum. A good buy.
Silver or Gold 2007-08-10
A few reviews read that the GOLD is delivering better power and a longer charge.
While the charge does seem to last longer, I haven't experienced more actual power in my screwdriver.
For the extra time, though, I'd take the GOLD anytime rather than to have to recharge more often.
If you need Versapak batteries, you should get the Gold ones 2007-04-25
I am in love with Versapak and have several appliances and tools that use these batteries. There is just one problem: the regular ones don't have much capacity and have a VERY short life. The Gold ones are much better but a little more expensive. In my opinion, they are well worth the extra price. It's really too bad that Black and Decker overprices the batteries os much.
