Editorial Review
This is a Genuine Canon USA 52mm UV/Haze filter (not an inferior third party filter). This is the same glass and coatings that are used on your expensive top quality Canon lens. The std. filter to be used for protecting your valuable lenses front element glass. Also reduces purple cast in high altitude applications and also reduces 'Haze' for clearer pictures. No coloration and is perfect for Pro use.

I am a beginner in photography and I am aware of the debate about using a filter and not using a filter. I chose to use one to protect my lens although it seems a little expensive for what it is. This filter is easy to install on the lens and remove for cleaning. It is working as I expected it to.

UV Filter 2007-11-16
Gotta have a UV, protects the lens and ultraviolet light can be a pain plus you can't beat Canon glass!

Works good; some glare 2007-09-06
It's great for protecting the front of your lens, but without any coatings it does tend to reflect some light.

Inexpensive lens protection 2007-08-12
I purchased this filter to go with my Canon EF-S 60mm Macro lens. I'm very happy with my purchase. I know that some UV filters have been known to negatively affect photos (increasing vignetting, mostly), but I have not experienced that with this filter. It wasn't the cheapest choice, but it certainly wasn't the most expensive, either, and it seems to do its job well. Definitely worth the $11 I paid to protect my much more valuable lens!

Worth every penny, if... 2007-05-15
This fileter does nothing special UNTIL you drop your camera lens. Then it suddenly becomes very cheap insurance.

I suppose it also is good for keeping smudges off your lens.

Long time in use 2007-02-25
I have used this filter for literally 5 years straight. Still solid and works well. I would have expected the glass to separate from the metal ring, but it has stayed put just like the day I bought it. Solid investment in the protection of your lenses and camera.

basic lens protector 2007-02-07
I am using this to protect my EF 50mm f1.8. No complaints. Good price. Fits well. No noticeable effect on image quality, but added peace of mind.

A good purchase 2007-01-09
I bought this 52mm UV filter for my brother's Nikon D50. He uses it on his Nikkor 18-55 lens. It does a wonderful job of protecting his lens. The picture taken with the UV filter have been great so far.

Also we did not observed any flaring or refraction artifcat as found in the lower end Tiffen UV filters (see amazon).

4 stars because I thought the price was on the higher side/ I was expecting something like this to be 10$.

not made in Japan 2006-07-16
This filter was made in the Phillipines, not made in Japan as you would expect from Canon photographic equipment. For $8, I guess you can't expect too much.

Review: "This Camera is one of the best in its price range. It takes beautiful clear pictures and can be used right out of the box, but its worth learning all its features. The included memory holds about 20-25 pictures so I upgraded to 128mb. I reccomend getting a 128mb card and the Sony camera case. Not only is this one of the best cameras in its class it includes decent software and rechargeable batteries that are at least a 20$ value.
HIGHLY reccomend over canon, kodak, and fuji. One more thing this camera has CARL Zeiss lens (if you dont know, great lens) all the competetors have generic lens."

The fact is a camera’s megapixel rating is only a measure of how many pixels (photosensitive sites) an image sensor has…. An image sensor is simply one component of an entire system that produces a digital photograph… So resist buying into the megapixel hype when you’re choosing a digital camera. From Chapter 1
