I just read the negative reviews of his product and I'm perplexed. I've had mine for over a year now, watched lots of dvds on it. Excellent video and audio. When viewing pics they are stretched out sideways a bit, but other than that, it's been an awesome little DVD player for the price. I guess you can get a lemon once in awhile, but I'm satisfied with my purchase.
Stopped working....

I bought this DVD player for my husband and son for the car. I watched one DVD. My brother watched two DVDs during a car trip that we took to meet family. When he tried to load another DVD half way through the trip, it wouldn't load any more. We tried several different DVDs, even called the manufacturer for help. The manufacturer suggested that we try cleaning it, trying an audio CD, etc. None of these suggestions worked.
I will be returning this DVD, and purchasing another brand.

I'll definitely be sticking with Brand names from now on. I've used this unit 3 times and now it won't load the DVD. That's nearly $200 down the drain. To it's credit, when it worked it was great. Good picture and good sound. I only wish I had seen the reviews on this product first as I'd never have bought it.

I usually rely on Consumer Report's reviews, which liked this unit. However, it is a piece of junk. We bought this as a second portable DVD player, as we have owned a Pioneer unit for 2 years, which has been flawless. This Mintek unit has two major problems: first, it does not play most DVDs as a black bar appears across the screen or the picture is misaligned and second, the battery attaches to the back, not the bottom, and it is very easy to break off and ruin the unit. Pass on this one. I returned it.
Missing pieces to package!!!! 2007-09-04
I purchased this item BECAUSE it allegedly came as a complete kit according to the description. When it arrived (took 12days)there was no carrying case and no stereo headphones!!!!!!
And the packaging? It was delivered in the Mintek box as though it came right off the store shelf. No protective covering, no packing box.
I haven't even plugged it in I am so disgusted!
2 Years and Still Working

Bought this at Kohls's almost 2 years ago and it is still working... used mostly by my daughter to play movies and CD's in the car. I was worried that it was not a big name electronics maker and I have not had to deal with Mintek customer service, so I can't comment on that. But so far I have been very pleased with the purchase.

I would have given this item 0 stars, but there was no such opportunity. I borrowed this from my girlfriend for a trip to visit my grandpa in the hospitol, and it worked great, for most of the trip. Then it just stopped and never worked again. It says no disc when you put a DVD in. DO NOT BUY THIS! I had to stpend money again and buy a new one for my girlfriends family. Total junk!
Decent for the price 2006-01-02
I have had mine about 2 years. It works great. Yes, the speakers are weak in a large area, but a set of computer speakers fix that problem. I have had a few loading problems, but they are recorded DVD's. I usually just reload and it works fine. I have used it in the car, on airplane trips and at work. We watch between patients, sometimes it takes 4 hours to watch a less than 2 hour movie, and it will keep our place in the pause mode. This is a great function. I love mine
Player is unreliable - do not buy! 2005-12-27
The player does not always load the DVD's. And it never fails that part way during the movie, it will stop playing, get stuck on a scene, and never start again. It is completely unreliable. Sadly, I did not start having serious problems with it until after the warranty was up. I've only had it 6 months and it is very frustrating that it was such a waste of money.
