good helmet, bad voice changer
2009-03-20
I've heard the complaints about removing the helmet piece and it not going back together the same way. I could see how repeatedly doing this might cause an issue over time but I've personally never found the need to do it other than the one time just because it could be done and I like taking things apart. There really is no reason to disassemble the helmet from the mask.
The voice changer is HORRIBLE! Do not buy this helmet expecting to utilize the voice changer. That is the reason for only 3 stars. If it was marketed as a helmet only, I would have given it 4.
That being said, the built in sound effects are fun and sound good. As an adult, I find the voice changer chest box hangs too high on my chest to be visually accurate but I concede the helmet was probably made for a child and I was able to correct this by fabricating new connector straps of longer length.
I personally love this helmet and while it's not of the quality and film accuracy of others on the market, those others are very expensive and this helmet is great bang for the buck. I've had a ton of fun with this helmet and would recommend it as a mask, just not a voice changer.
Cool Infact

My son got so many toys this Christmas. This is by far his favorite! This is so fun that even the grown up are walking around using the mask. Everyone wants to do the Darth Vader voice. This is just the best thing out there.
Looks really cool!

My son wore this for Halloween and it really made his costume look great!
It was a little heavy for walking around the neighborhood, but great for a party. He continues to enjoy it.

darth vader, one of the most prominent villains in the entertainment world, can now be you! hasbro's star wars darth vader voice changer helmet makes that possible. toddlers, teenagers, and adults alike can enjoy this toy, thanks to its relatively large size and adjustable belt/strap that can accommodate the largest of faces. no matter what your age is, you can still feel the power of the dark side.
the voice changing apparatus can be set in 3 pitch levels - low, moderate, high. this features enables users with voices of any pitch to sound like darth vader without any problem. having a chipmunk-like voice or one very deep voice won't be stopping you from getting in touch with the dark side.
you can also remove the helmet from the darth vader face mask with ease. so if you ever get tired of being darth vader, you can just wear the helmet and become one of his minions.
one problem with the voice changer though is that those around you would still be able to hear your natural voice coming from your mouth. maybe it's because there are little holes in the mouth area of the helmet that lets air enter the mask so as to prevent suffocation. so if you're planning to fool your friends over the phone, the product might not satisfy your expectations.
overall, regardless of its flaws, still makes one heck of a toy. a must have for any starwars fan.
Great toy for your Star Wars fan!

From the moment you put on this menacing gear, you become the ultimate villain of Star Wars. Strike fear throughout the galaxy by changing your voice to sound like Darth Vader's! This realistic headgear and chestplate will make you master of the dark side of the Force! This is the ultimate headgear for any fan of the Star Wars movies! Easy-to-adjust straps allow you to fit the helmet comfortably on your head. Once you're wearing the helmet, three different modes allow you to adjust the pitch of your voice! Make actual Darth Vader breathing sounds, or hear real phrases spoken by Lord Vader in the movies! Best of all, activate the third mode and speak into the helmet¿ your voice will sound just like Darth Vader's!

I have two young boys who love this. The voice programmed in sounds just like James Earl Jones (Darth Vader), but the microphone that makes your voice sound like his doesn't work very well, unless you talk very loudly.
The boys still love it, and it is durable. They are very hard on their toys. Great for any Star Wars fanatic like them!!
Darth Vader Helmet Review

Item was received in a timley manor. It was for Halloween. It worked great. The only problem was the top helmet part does not stay connected to the base (lower portion)very well.
Also we didn't conside the fact that the dark eye lenses were a problem at night tine trik-or- treating.
Good time had by all....

I got this helmet along with the Deluxe Child Darth Vader Costume for my 4yr old as part of his Halloween ensemble. It was a huge hit. While trick or treating, people were stopping him on the street to take his picture! The helmet will also fit adults (we've all played with it). The phrases and the breathing are good but the actual voice changer is pretty lame (the voice changer in the Optimus Prime helmet is MUCH better) but overall, it's a great toy and my son loves it and it MADE his costume.
Voice Changer? No.

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2GZP7CUOQAVWL This is not a voice changer, this is something that kind of adds on to your voice, droning in the background.
I put it on, and of course, like all the "1"s said, the head peace busted right off (that's what I get for being born with a big head) --- but it's not as bad as they say, you can put it back on if you know how to work it right...
But lets get real, this thing does not make you sound like Darth unless you have your ear right up to the little speaker that will sit on your chest.
It's really kind of weird that they put the speaker at the base of the control panel... if you were really short, and the person wearing it were really tall, maybe then it would make sense...
Anyway, long story short, but the TRANSFORMERS voice changing helmet... the Darth Vader one is kind of lame.
