Did not work with Sony 52' XBR Bravia 2008-08-23
I purchased this product based upon the reviews. After installation with my equipment in a closet behind a 52" Sony Bravia XBR everything worked well...until I turn on the TV. The IR receiver becomes completely jammed with spurious IR from the television. Adjusting the location of the eye does not help. It might work in one location during the evening but during the day it does not. It's basically a complete waste of money if you have a late model large LCD screen.

I'm an electrical engineer, and why it does not come with an IR noise filter is beyond me. It seems that the design is too sensitive to be useful with large LCD or plasma screens which are known to radiate IR.

so far it works perfect 2008-08-16
this unit works as advertised. i have a panasonic 46" plasma and as long as i keep the receiver about 3 feet away it doesn't interfere. the receiver does pick up some interference when flourescent lights are first turned on in the room but it just makes the blue indicator light come on for 20 seconds or so. i hope it lasts because this is a great product and i like to support home grown invention. congrats on your success hot link inventor, maybe you can make me a remote controlled variable audio output unit for my tv so i can hook a subwoofer to the audio output which is fixed(therefore the sub volume can't be controlled) on all but sony tvs.

Works well! 2008-08-15
Installation couldn't be much easier and the unit really picks up IR from my remotes much better than the sensors that are built into the equipment that I'm controlling. I'm very pleased.

Great item, Easy to Use and Cheaper than others 2008-08-04
I bought this to use with my new cable box and HK Receiver which is in a closed cabinet. This thing is a breeze to setup. I placed one "eye" near the IR port of my cable box and it worked instantly. The other was a little harder. Apparently if you tape the transmitting eye near the spot on the HP AVR 340 it will not get the signal, the key is to have it about 1 inch away from the IR receiving position on the receiver. After this modification it all works like a charm.

Hot Link Pro is Hot 2008-08-04
I bought the Hot Link Pro so that I could keep my cabinet with all the components closed. It took me awhile to figure out that the eye has to be in a dark place. When I set it up initially the sun would hit the eye in the morning and it wouldn't work correctly. I moved the eye under the cabinet behind a leg, and it now works perfect. I would recommend it.

Exactly as advertised 2008-07-29

Great item 2008-07-25
I love this item. It lets me hide all of our equipment inside a cabinet and control it through one unit. Some of the reaction times seem to lag sometimes but it may be the harmony remote I have.

This is what you want! 2008-07-24
This is exactly what I was looking for, I can now have all my components hidden from view in a cabinet and it was very simple to install

OMG...It really does work...GREAT!!! 2008-07-14
ok here's my setup...follow along...Panasonic TH-58PE75U on the wall...on the otherside of the wall in another room in the top shelf of the closet is my AV system comprising of the Onkyo TXSR705 with a Brighthouse Networks HD Scientific Atlanta 8700 cable box...So i get the product and i will admit at first it wasnt working too great...but the setup is very easy and it comes with a blue LED light that helps you measure radiated light noise from your other electronics...Espically Plasma TV's and with me having 58inches i still had NO PROBLEM...so the directions say to watch the blue led glow...as you move the IR eye around you will see the blue LED light go dim...the dimmer the better. in the end. i found a spot under my tv in the middle behind the tv. the IR eye is very powerful so whne i point the Mulit remote from my Onkyo it simply bounces off the wall and shoots up into the eye...now i do have to point it to the center of the tv...but...it works awsome!!!...also...i did have to play with the position of the stick on eye located in the other room glued to the Onkyo...but after a few trys BAMMMM...DEAD CENTER...and the remote speeds through changes effortlessly like it was in the same room...so i think its more important to be dead on with the sticky eye on your equipment most...hope this helps...its WELL WORTH THE MONEY AND IS EVEN CHEAPER ON AMAZON...take care you all..

Works with security DVR from Topica 2008-06-28
In the building I live, it was recently installed a video security surveillance system from Topica. We had this problem: the DVR was installed behind a wall and the Remote controller was useless. I found this article in Amazon and wrote the manufacturer about the compatibility of their product with this DVR unit. They promptly answered:

"Hot Link products can repeat 18Hkz to 120 Khz. This includes almost everything but a few odd Sony ES series and some older Kenwood high-end units and very few Pioneer Elite Receivers.
If it does not work, call tech support first, 800-999-8846 or my number below. If we cannot get it up and running, we will refund and accept return."

After this answer, I ordered the device, Once I received it, I tested it, and voila!!! it Worked.

Just a hole through the wall, we pass the IR receiver and the blue Led, plugged the device to the power outlet, and attached the repeater to the DVR. Now our surveillance team can zoom in on each video screen using the IR remote.

It was the cheapest, and fasted solution we could ever find.
