LiftMaster Gear 2008-05-04
The Liftmaster gear and sprocket assembly kit was very easy to put in. It saved me alot of money. Other option would have been to buy a new garage door opener.

great kit, not that hard to install 2008-04-22
Not that hard to put the kit in once you get the garage opener unit unmounted. I took it nice and slow took a lot of pics to document the process. Only basic tools are required. You'll need another person or two to remove and reinstall the garage door opener. I saved a lot of $ repairing my garage door opener versus buying a whole new unit.

It's been over a year since I put in the new gear and drive, my opener works great!

Send me an email if you got one of these and need instructions and pics

Everything needed to repair opener gear drive 2008-03-19
All parts needed to replace opener gears and spocket were included in the set. Intructions were complete, detailed and easy to understand. Additionally, item was well packaged and shipped quickly.

Works like a charm, but what a lot of work it is....... 2008-02-23
First, I wanted to offer compliments to other reviewers that described the symptoms of the gears being bad - the "snow", the stop-and-starts, the stop working altogether but can still hear the motor running - nailed it exactly. Very clear to me after reading those that this was exactly the product I needed. It is exactly what it says it is - an OEM Liftmaster gear replacement assembly. The directions that come with it are excellent - step-by-step, and it explains exactly what you need to do. The directions are the best part of this product - if they were not so well done, it would be impossible.

No knock against the product, but installation was considerably more work than I expected. I had visions of undoing a couple of screws, popping out a gear, putting in the new ones, and being done - boy, I couldn't have been more wrong. The process can best be summarized as "take your garage door opener completely apart, removing all pieces, wires, etc. Around 30 to 50 screws, wires and pieces to remove. Replace gears. Re-assemble." Very important to ziplock and label all pieces and screws as you go, label the disconnected wires with masking tape so you keep everything straight.

With practically no re-work or mess-ups, it took me every bit of 4 hours for the fix. Was starting to wonder if this was the best way to spend my Saturday afternoon or if I just should have bought a whole new opener.....of course, would have had to install that too. That said though, the product works exactly as promised, and the directions are great.

Also kudos to Amazon seller "Sanford and Son" - I ordered it Monday night, was in in mailbox on Friday, in time for the weekend project.

Liftmaster Gear Assembly Kit 2008-02-16
My garage door recently started acting strange. When I'd shut it and drive off, I'd come home and it would be open. Then when I'd open it, it started to reverse itself and close, then finally it gave out completely and would no longer open. I could still hear the motor running when i hit the switch, so I knew the motor itself had to be good. I took the cover off my liftmaster and it looked like there was a pile of snow from the gears wearing over the years. After researching, luckily I found this kit on Amazon. It came with everything I needed and more. It took me well over an hour but I was being patient and in no rush. I could do it in less then an hour if i had to do it again. This kit probably saved me hundreds of dollars and it worked like a charm. Shipping was fast too. Out of all the kits to choose from, this is the best one to get.

Saved me $400 2008-07-21
Being able to replace the parts instead of having to buy new unit saved me over $400.
The parts were just what was needed. Very easy to follow directions. And the parts came
from Amazon within a few days. All worked out well.....

Amazon to the rescue! 2008-07-04
after my sears garage door opener quit working I was sure I was going to have to replace it, boy was I wrong! This kit made the repair job a breeze. A Guy
(or Gal) could do this simple repair in about 2 hours and save a lot of money. no special tools required to change the sprocket(the worm gear was fine) thanks Amazon!

I'm a girl 2008-06-24
And I had this installed in about 2 hours, plus time for tweaking. I agree you could get the less expensive set and assemble the shaft pieces yourself. The instructions were simple. I didn't have to label anything, just unscrew, unplug the electrical, desemble, change out the parts, re-install and plug it back in. The tweaking was the worst part. I recommend leaving the cover of the main unit off until you get it to operate right. (just remember to unplug it before you work on it again)

Excellent 2008-06-18
Very nice, high quality. Unfortunately, my garage door had new springs that were installed improperly by a BAD contractor, and the tension was all wrong, which caused the first worm drive to wear out. The new one only lasted 3 weeks before it wore out. My advice--make sure your door springs are properly adjusted BEFORE you change out these gears, otherwise you'll have to do what I just did and buy a second set of gears! The instructions are VERY easy to follow, however, so I don't mind doing it again. Don't tell my wife, but it was a pretty fun repair job!

Great Service 2008-05-19
Bought his directly from The Sanford and Sons? website - ordered on a Tuesday and received it on Friday. Shipping was free and the price was right. Installation is easy, if a bit tedious.
