great paper...wish there was a good matte paper from Canon
2007-05-22
I'll go along with the other reviewers here in that this is Canon's best paper and works well in Canon printers and with Canon ink. The prints can be stunning. It is the dye-based inks that will fade, and that is true on this paper as well as the other Canon papers. You have to get prints under glass or they will fade very quickly.
I do wish Canon would expand their paper line and offer high quality matte papers. Epson has lots of papers.
Best Canon Paper

If you own a Canon printer you will almost always get the best results using Canon ink and paper. Photo Paper Pro is the top of the line glossy paper from Canon and has the highest price to go with it. These packs of 30 are a welcome addition to the product line-up as Amazon offers it at a price close to what 15 sheets sell for in stores.
If you wonder whether it is worth paying for the high end paper or if a cheaper one would do, make you consider all angles. First, it is true that the Canon Photo Paper Plus, Glossy (7980A006, 8.5x11, 20 Sheets) will look just as good at the time you print it out. Unfortunately, the Photo Paper Plus also fades quickly. I had photos stored in an album fade quite noticeably in just one year while prints made on Photo Paper Pro still looked great. Supposedly, the Pro stock will hold color for decades but those estimates are notoriously tricky to make. However long they last, it is clearly a good deal longer than the cheaper Canon papers and that alone makes it worth investing in if you care about how your pictures look beyond the next few months.
In sum, I highly recommend this paper. More specifically, I recommend buying it in this specific package of 30 sheets to help significantly lower your cost per sheet. This is the best paper you can buy for a Canon printer at a bargain price.
Almost magic paper!

Granted, I have a Canon printer (Pixma iP4300) but this paper is of excellent quality. I've used HP & Kodak photo paper and the results are never quite as good as when I use the Canon Photo Paper Pro. There's something about it that just makes my photo printing look better than anything else.
Whether that's some sort of conspiracy by Canon or not I'll let you be the judge. From my perspective, when I want the best possible quality of photo printing, this is (and will continue to be) the photo paper for me.
The only glossy paper to use with a Canon printer

I use this paper with my Canon i6600D and the results are fantastic. It's heavy and thick enough to be durable and after the ink dries a bit the finish is actually pretty smooth. I've not found a paper (Canon, anyhow) that matches the lab stuff as far as that "waxed glass" feel to the finished product but this stuff is pretty damn close. I have also used the Canon Photo Paper Plusy Glossy and although I don't notice printing quality differences, the Pro is definitely superior if you're going to be handling the pictures with your hands. For framing or other presentation where you'll never handle the paper, the Plus is fine, but go with the Pro for showing them off to others or giving them as gifts.
Great photo paper - a real Pro

I have a Canon Pixma printer that I got as a freebie when buying a new Mac Computer. Usually these things are not that good but the printer had nice reviews and works great. Surprisingly, the ink does not go away that fast compared to Epson. The major drawback of Canon printers is that they require their own paper. For this reason, I bought Photo Paper Pro. The price from Adorama was half of Staples and Amazon offered an additional discount. The paper is still significantly more expensive than Epson photo paper. But there is a difference. Tweaking the color settings, one can make the printer deliver good colors with Epson paper but the saturation is not exactly as you see on the screen or on standard photos. The Canon paper does not indeed require any tweaking and yields very bright colors with high contrast. The pictures are very vivid especially those shot outdoors. The paper also looks like old fashioned photo paper with very high gloss. If you have a Canon photo printer, look no further. Highly recommend this paper.
Great Paper

So far it seems that the only photo grade paper that I've tried with my Canon printer(ip6700D), that works best is the Canon Photo Paper Pro, or for that matter, any of the Canon papers that is designed for this printer. I was using Fuji photo paper previously, but it seems that the skin tones had a grainy texture that was unacceptable. This also holds true for the Kodak, HP, and Epson papers. Also, the Canon photo papers dries to the touch very quickly so you don't get smudges from handling when it's removed from the printer. I recommend this paper very highly.

The only paper for me to use with my Canon Photo Printers. Colors and longevity are superb when used with genuine Canon inks.

Great for the Grand parents to print images on the spot

I use this with my Canon i960 for my parents. If you are printing images from inkjet, I recommend OEM ink with OEM paper. Pictures came out crisp and clear. If your not in a rush I would still prefer to print from drugstore.
