Works great with my Flip cam on my motorcycle 2008-08-09
While the Panavise 809 mount is advertised as a window mount, it also works great in securing my Flip cam to the gas tank of my motorcycle. The suction cup creates a rigid coupling that hasn't come loose yet, at least in the hour or so at a time I've had it attached to the tank. The arm articulates nicely so that the cam can be set to level (or at whatever angle you'd like it to be), and extends enough so that the cam sits nicely behind the fairing and out of the wind. The rigidity of this mount is a big improvement over another mount I tried in that the Flip doesn't flop around (pun not intended ;). This is important as the Flip does not stabilize the captured video and tendency for the cam to move while operating seems exaggerated in the resulting video. The Flip is small and light, and I haven't tried this mount with my larger cam. The mount has a 3 lb. weight limit.

Works great 2008-07-03
Exactly as shown. Holds my HF100 HD camcorder upside down very easily. Great product.

Excellent, but not for off-label use 2008-06-30
This clearly is designed to be a CCTV mount. As such, with most CCTV cameras having top mounted attachment, I have no doubt that it works flawlessly. It is very well constructed and does indeed have amazing suction power and solid construction without any "wriggles".

I bought it hoping that I could use it on the fairly steeply raked windshield of a late model Civic to film driving routes with my digital camera. Even though I have a low profile "ultracompact" digital camera, there was not enough room between the windshield and the mount to allow me to mount the camera - unless I mounted it upside down, which I obviously could not do because of the inability to rotate the resulting movie.

FORTUNATELY I discovered that the Civic has a flat non-porous ( i.e. plastic ) top gauge cover, and was able to mount it on that. But the vast majority of cars have curved top gauge covers, so I don't think this will be suitable for any but a few car models for the purpose I'm using it for.

If Panavise could come up with the same assembly and a U - shaped holder for mounting a camera with a standard tripod screw thread from the bottom, BELOW the mount - now that would be far more useful.

Exelent Quality 2008-06-09
Got this mount for a great price.

Very powerfull suction cup on this thing. Even holds to the tank of my motorcycle !Holds up my Canon S5 Is with no movement at all.

Totally recommend this product to anyone !

Sticks like glue!!! 2008-05-27
Purpose brought: Used to make mounted vehicular videocam.

Pros: When set properly, this device sticks like glue!

Cons: Small swing arm limits mounting positions.

The suction seal is very strong and after two weeks I still can't physically remove it unless I use the pressure release lever.

The small arm limits the placement and use of a camera (ie: camera is inverted when mounting on a windshield), but it is perfect for holding small camcorders and digital cameras on a smooth, non-porous upright surface.

If you already have a small handheld videocam and wish to use it as a vehicle cam, Use this and a 90mm mounting pad mounted on top of the dashboard as a cheap alternative to buying a dedicated vehicle camera.

Great product but only 4 stars due to the small swing arm.

PANAVISE SCTN CUP WINDOW MNT FOR CAMERA - CCTV Camera Window Mount

DCR-HC96 Wont fit.. nice product though..well made 2008-03-30
well made but the smaller camcorders dont have enough height to "see/view" over the suction mount..

Camera Mount Works Great 2007-08-29
This camera mount holds great on a windshield. I attached mine several weeks ago, and it has been there since, like it was glued on. This mount allow the camera to be swiveled easily to various positions or angles. It's well designed, and as you might guess, I'm happy with mine.

Panavise 809 CCTV Camera Window Mount 2007-08-09
I found that the window mount worked pefectly. I used it to take video pictures of an airplane cockpit instrument panel and front seat pilots. The camera was mounted on a side window.

Great Camera window mount!! 2007-03-17
This little camera window mount works perfectly as described. We have tried tripods and other methods to mount our wireless X10Com camera to the back window of our fifth wheel to use as rear view cam while traveling and nothing held the cam steady until this. This item is easy to use and rock solid steady while traveling, plus the suction is incredible. It holds itself against the glass with a push of the button and flip of the lever. There are two adjustable arms to position the cam better also and they are tight and secure. Wish I had found this item years ago before I invested $90 in a good tripod. Highly recommend this item for lightweight camera mounting.

Review: "This Camera is one of the best in its price range. It takes beautiful clear pictures and can be used right out of the box, but its worth learning all its features. The included memory holds about 20-25 pictures so I upgraded to 128mb. I reccomend getting a 128mb card and the Sony camera case. Not only is this one of the best cameras in its class it includes decent software and rechargeable batteries that are at least a 20$ value.
HIGHLY reccomend over canon, kodak, and fuji. One more thing this camera has CARL Zeiss lens (if you dont know, great lens) all the competetors have generic lens."
