Easy to use phone
2008-06-06
The phone works well. The buttons are large. The lighted LCD screen stays that way. Seems to allow one to talk for awhile before the battery runs down. The message indicator makes one think there is a police car with red lights flashing in the house so there's no way to miss that. My one criticism is that it's a bit complicated. I still haven't figured out how to review the numbers on my caller ID--I'll have to dig out the manual and try to understand that--I went through it once and it worked, but it's more complicated than most phones that I have had. The ringer rings so loud that it wakes up the entire neighborhood and thus far I have been unable to make changes in that. However, in terms of basic features, seems sturdy and reliable.
Great phone

I bought this phone for my mother. She can't hear real good and she loves it. She likes the red light that blinks when it rings. She calls this her Star Wars phone. It is pretty cool if I say so myself!
I Love this phone!

Finally, a phone that meets all of our needs. We got this phone from Uniden to replace one from GE we had for the last 10 years. We are not hard of hearing, but wanted a good sized phone with big buttons and no static or beeping to interrupt our calls. We also prefer the rich sound that the analog phones offer compared to the digitals. This phone is great. Wonderful sound quality and no interference at all.
First, we first tried a phone from Walmart that was a 5.8 GHZ and it made all sorts of beeping noises during the call. We took that one back and tried an analog 2.4 from G.E. because we had had great luck with our 900 Mhz from G.E. That's the one that we've had for the last ten years. Unfortunately, apparently the 2.4 GHz phones must be on the same frequency as our TV and answering machine. We got so much static if we were near the TV that we could not hear the caller. When we took the phone to the next room to hear the call, it would start to beep. We had to send that one back to Amazon. The transaction was very easy, but we still had no phone to use in that room.
When we got this one, we both crossed our fingers and hoped. It was exactly what I had hoped for.
I highly reccommend this product!
Great phone!

This phone is my mother-in-law's & her 2nd one. (The first one lasted many years but she smokes A LOT & didn't like it being so yellowed & dirty looking so I bought her a new one. Otherwise the first one was in perfect condition still. The light on top of the handset and on the base is a great feature as my MIL is slightly hard of hearing and when the TV is loud she sees it ringing. And she has macular degeneration so she doesn't see very well (but can easily see something lighting up) so the keys being backlit with black numbers is helpful. The volume adjustment on the handset is very helpful for her, too.
Great features, great performance and long lasting- even when doused with smoke for years! (If you don't know this, smoke builds up on things and feels sticky to the touch after a while... that can get in the insides of the phone, the ear piece holes, etc... yet this phone still functioned very well. )
My only desire would be for the number keys to be a little larger and the numbers bigger and bolder for people with "low vision".
This is THE one

I only wish I had found this Uniden phone before I had gone through three others. It has superior features and performs flawlessly and was less than half what the others cost.
Best Phone on the Market

Uniden EZI996 900 MHz Extended Range Cordless Telephone
This is the second such phone I've purchased. The design of the phone makes it comfortable to hold, but the most important features of this phone are the easy adjustablity of the volume -- both voice and ring tone, the large, lighted keys -- which are easy to see without glasses! -- and the flashing red light -- which unequivocally lets you know you have vociemail. I couldn't recommend it more highly.
Great LOUD phone!

This phone has both a loud visual ringer and loud ear piece volume. Bought for my father who is losing his hearing. This is the only phone that he can hear well with. The display screen for seeing caller ID is nice. I Recomend highly! We liked our first one of these phones so well that we bought 2 more just like it and put them throughout the house.
good phone

phone is very good. the reason i purchased it was that is doesn't continually emit harmful emf like the new gigahertz phones do.
Adaptable phone
2008-07-05
This is my second Uniden phone. I bought the first one because it offers larger buttons and easy to control volumn and ringer. Range may not be as good as the newer phones but if you can't see the buttons to dial or your fingers keep hitting the wrong buttons because they are too small, then what good does it do to have hundreds of feet of coverage. I hightly recommend this phone for those of you needing a phone that you can operate without a magnify glass. I couldn't find another of this type on the market.
phone for elderly

the phone is great. it is very loud so my dad can hear it. it has flashing lighs so when he has his earphones on for the tv he can see it ringing. he can hear better because it is amplified. my sister programed the numbers for him and that took some time for him to understand and adapt to because he "can't" hear.
