Screens don't last long enough

I have the model that precedes this one, Ms2 280 and am disappointed in the length of time that the screens last....7 months. And then when I tried to replace the screens, the plastic head broke due to a bad snap that you are supposed to release to get the new screens in and no heads were available not even from Remmington, so there went a %69 reazor...lousy quality

I needed a shaver that would work as either cordless or corded, with either US (110v) or foreign voltages (220-250v). This shaver does this without having to carry voltage converters. The shave provided is decent, but my beard is very light so I can't claim to really challenge it. The popup trimmer works good for sideburns or trimming a mustache. The only negative aspect is the positioning of the popup trimmer switch; it is located such that it is very easy to hit inadvertently while shaving.
Great value, nice little shaver 2007-08-29
This shaver doesn't shave as fast as my Norelco but it does have a much closer shave than my Norelco. For the price of replacement heads, this shaver is totally worth it, easy to use, easy to clean and it always makes me feel good because of the great value. I rather get new shavers every other year than buy an expensive one and try to make it last, this is why this shaver was perfect for my needs.
MORE THAN 60 YEARS OF GREAT SHAVES 2007-03-19
Having purchased my first Remington in 1945, I have used other shavers over the years. I found the Remington to be superior to all I have tried. Essentially, it is an engineering marvel. Remington makes other more expensive models of shavers. However, from a practical point of view, this particular model is all any person needs. Their instruction manual could be a little clearer as to how to replace screens. They recommend replacement every six months. Rotate the screens that are already in the shaver and you will gain more time on the screens. I have found that if you wash your face prior to shaving, your shaver stays cleaner and the screens last longer. With proper use, a screen can last more than a year, particularly if you rotate them. Assuming you have a very course bristly beard, you might have a problem using this or similar products.

I didn't like this shaver. No matter the frequency of use I still had razor bumps and never had a close shave. The shaver didn't do much other than chap my skin.
Shaver gave up. 2006-12-18
Used the shaver for around a month and it simply stopped workign after taht. I think it works well, guess I was unfortunate taht it stopped working. Am looking to repair it soon.

no complaints, and the price was right. I couldn't justify the costs of the $70+ shavers, and the value for the money with this shaver can't be beat.

I bought this on a whim, just to see if I'd like to use an electric razor or not. After using it for 6 months, I don't think I do. It never did shave as close as a safety razor -- I usually use a Gillette Sensor, and have been for fifteen years -- and if my skin was the tiniest bit damp (from sweat or a fresh washing) it stuck to my skin, so I had to use it only at certain times of day when my skin was in just the right state of not-quite-cleanliness. I could have started buying pre-shave lotion, but I've never had to with my regular razor, and it just seems to me like an excess expense. Especially since, after a nice hot shower, my Sensor doesn't even require that I use shaving cream.
Also, if I push too hard or shave too often, I get razor burns that are so bad they bleed. And since it doesn't shave as well as my trusty Sensor, I have to shave a lot more often. It also fails if you don't shave often enough -- long hairs never enter the mesh, they just get pushed out of the way. I found one hair under my chin that was an inch long before I noticed it. I know that you're supposed to be able to use the trimmer to catch hairs like that, but even that often failed to cut well. Several times I ended up using my Sensor to finish up, because this razor just didn't do a good enough job.
Now, I don't have that thick of a beard, so it shouldn't be this hard to get the razor to cut smooth and close. I don't want to think about what damage this razor would do to the skin of a thick-bearded man.
Great razor! 2006-08-10
This is a great razor and it was priced even better through my Gold Box offer. I wished I could have got more at that price. My husband had one I had bought him years ago (much higher priced) and my sons really liked it. When it came up on my Gold Box offer I grabed it! It does it all!
