Editorial Review
Hot Fuss features eleven nuggets of reel-you-in storytelling genius and musical nectar. These eleven tracks span from the "very Vegas – like Ziggy came to town" first proper single release "Somebody Told Me";"Mr Brightside" - a tale of jealousy that depicts that moment in a relationship when you realize that your other half might be playing away and this thought takes up residence in your psyche feeding the worst fears and visualisations your imagination can then throw at you. You’ll find two-thirds of a murder trilogy in "Midnight Show", which starts off harking back to "Lipgloss" before veering into far darker territory than old Jarvis would ever have flirted with, in Pulp days at least, and "Jenny". These two are connected by the story of a murder of a girl by her jealous boyfriend. The first part of the trilogy, "Leave The Bourbon On The Shelf", will, you can be sure, make an appearance at some point in the future. It’s a deliciously ambitious series that! belies the band’s tender years. Elsewhere, meanwhile: "On Top" celebrates where Brandon feels the band is at, while stalker’s tale "Andy You’re A Star" and "All These Things That I’ve Done," saw Flowers realise his dream of using a gospel choir in their recordings.

great music 2008-01-14
I am loving this cd! I bought this for my husband but keep taking it out of his car so that I can listen to it! :)

soud quality 2008-01-11
I love their music and their songs but the sound quality on the CD was horrible, i have hear illegal copies of their songs on youtube that were a better quality, they should re-reaslse the CD with a better sound quality for a lower price then the original.

"I just can't look, it's killing me." 2007-12-04
Hot Fuss is a pretty good album, a nice merger of that modern style of critically acclaimed rock I honestly don't like that much with some synthetic touches. When vocalist Brandon Flowers actually sings, he has a pretty good voice, my only problem is that all too often he just sort of half-heartedly shouts the lyrics. The problem grows a bit when the songs seem as focused on the vocals as they often do. The rest of the band members, especially the guitarist, can be solid musicians, they just don't stand out that much. Most of the tracks do have something to like though, and it's enjoyable music as long as you don't try to read into it too much. The lyrics often don't make sense, but that's only ever a problem for me if they're painful to listen to, and these are just a bit odd. The Killers are probably their best when they aren't sounding like every other mainstream rock band.

"Jenny Was a Friend of Mine" contains one of the only instances of enjoyable bass-playing on the album, as it intermingles with high-pitched keys and crashing guitars. "Mr. Brightside" is my favorite of the two singles, with it being catchier than "Somebody Told Me" and a bit less repetitive, although that's not a bad song either. "Smile Like You Mean It" has a haunting and memorable synth part that drives the track, and helps make it one of the best. "All These Things That I've Done" is one of the more deliberate tracks, and isn't that entertaining besides an enjoyable detour with a choir repeating "I've got soul but I'm not a soldier". "On Top" is one of the more over-the-top techno sounding songs. As the album starts dragging, "Midnight Show" helps bring it back a bit, being pretty energetic and having a nice chorus. "Everything Will Be Alright" ends it in strange style, a slow-paced, odd song that is nonetheless compelling as Flowers repeatedly wails the title. If you enjoyed the singles at all I'd recommend giving it a shot.

Top Notch 2007-11-16
One of the best alternative rock albums of all time (including edgy radio rock from 1990 to today). This album puts together a stockpile of hits and great melodies. But even if it wasn't for the hits, it does so well that it puts albums of that year by similar artists Franz Ferdinand/Modest Mouse/Bravery/and plenty of others to shame. Since then this group has kept up with a quite impressive catalog including another CD, a new rarities compilation, another hard-to-find rarities compilation, and many singles. This band is getting better on stage and with the music videos as well. Excellent! Standouts, other than the entire record, to me are "We're On Top" and "Smile Like You Mean It".

Welcome back to the early 80's! 2007-10-25
Wonderful retro album that takes you back to the early 80's and is obviously influenced by the bands of that time. Vocally and musically reminds me a lot of Ultravox. My favorite song is actually "Smile like you mean it". Highly recommended retro alternative rock and roll.

This is a good CD from a GREAT BAND! 2008-05-16
This is a very good band. Hey, let's be honest and say they're a great band, IMO. Hot Fuss is a good CD from a GREAT BAND! I've been hooked from the first time I heard there music and I still am today.

An Excellent Album if You Like Modern Brit/Pop/Synth Rock 2008-04-08
The Killers first release "Hot Fuss" was extremely refreshing among the over-abundance of alternative/pop/rock bands lately like The Strokes, The Vines, Bush, etc. that all sound the same. So at first listen of the Killers "Hot Fuss" I was in love. While the sound is definitely inspired by the late '70's and early '80's brit/pop bands and american pop/punk bands their album struck me due to it's innovation of quirky, fun lyrics and up-beat danceable music.

The Killers' calling card has been the fantastic song "Somebody Told Me" about ex-lover's jabs on a love gone wrong by cheating (which we all have experienced) and the ever-so catchy "Mr. Brightside". I still can listen to both of these singles and not get sick of them. This Las Vegas group shines with the quirky Brandon Flowers on vocals and keyboards and Dave Keuning on guitars making "Hot Fuss" an excellent album if you like modern brit/pop/synth rock.

Hot Fuss 2008-04-08
This is a great album - it contains some radio friendly tunes, but stays true to the bands artistic vision. Well produced, great song writing - a rare talented group in a dismal modern pop environment. I typically listen to classic rock, but every once in a while a band comes along that demands your attention - The Killers are certainly that...

Check out the track "All The Things That I Have Done" - one of the best songs I have heard in the last few years.

My first Killers CD 2008-03-01
My first exposure to the Killers was through the song "All These Things I've Done," which is probably the most perfect song I've heard in a long time. From the single, sign-of-life piano key at the beginning of the song to the pulsing drums at the end, the music and lyrics of "All These Things I've Done" inspire me to dream. Weird how a song can do that. The rest of the album is good, with lots of synthesizers and heavy guitar. There's one song where I could swear I'm listening to The Smiths, or at the very least, Morrissey. Overall, a great addition to any music collection that is rock-n-roll heavy. Enjoy.

Mostly killer material 2008-02-13
Like an explosion of punk, new wave, pop, glam and disco, the Killers appropriately came out of Vegas. Their music is flashy, often hollow, but when used sparingly, can be a hell of a time. The first half almost never falters, leaving the second half gasping to keep up. Their first single, "Somebody Told Me," is still one of the most infectious, exciting and buzzworthy songs released at that time, but it's matched by credibly diverting and noteworthy tales. Sometimes the stories that frontman Brandon Flowers tells are a bit too earnest for their own good, but at least they're imaginative. Even the worst of his lyrical inventions are forgotten in the face of a resourceful musical bag of tricks, notably "All These Thing That I've Done," which emerges as the highlight because of its anthemic slow-build and gospel-ish bridge.

It was a lot more fun listening to the album during the first week I had it before they became a massive, over-hyped machine. No, it's not as good as some sang it to be (they were somewhat victims of the same sort of splintered whirlwind that eventually chewed up and regurgitated the Strokes), but you could do worse, including the music that the Killers are churning out today.

Best cuts: "All These Things That I've Done," "Jenny Was a Friend of Mine," "Somebody Told Me," "Smile Like You Mean It," "Andy, You're a Star," "Everything Will Be Alright," "Mr. Brightside," "On Top"
