3745 DESKJET STILL GOING STRONG! 2007-01-10
THIS 3745 PRINTER IS GOING ON THREE YEARS AND STILL PUMPING OUT PRETTY COLOR COPIES. IT CLUNKS AND IS VERY NOISY BUT IT WORKS. NOW AND THEN THE PRINTER KIND OF GETS STUCK AND I THINK IT IS TIME FOR A NEW ONE. BUT I JUST UNPLUG IT AND ON IT GOES, SHAKING ITS WAY THROUGH MORE PRINTING AND FINISHING WITH A LOUD BAM. NOT FOR HEAVY OFFICE USE, IT IS A LOVABLE PET OF A PRINTER FOR HOME.

Give away the razor, sell the blades 2006-07-24
I purchased this printer for my office at work. Once in a while I need to print a single page or two and don't want to bother walking to the other side of the building to pick it up from the shared printer. The printer is small and fits into my desk space well. One thing I like is that the output tray and the input tray are the same, the paper just rolls around through the printer and comes out on top of the input stack which allows for a very low profile unit. Print quality is good. It is not very fast. Its kind of noisy. The input tray holds only about 50 sheets. I already had a spare USB cable but if I hadn't then I would have been irritated that it didn't come with one.

Its fine for my purposes but, similar to most printer marketing models, you can buy the printer for much less than the cost of the replacement ink cartridges. It is basically disposable.

Prints well but noisy 2005-09-18
A nice inexpensive printer that prints documents well. Have not tried photos as I do not have that need. The only drawback is that the paper feed system/motor is very noisy compared to other HP printers that I have had.

To Big for a portable printer 2005-08-24
I purchased this printer for my laptop and to have on the go capability of being able to print out in the field or at job sites. The reviews stated that it was a great printer for a laptop computer. I never opended the box, when I saw its size
I did not hesitate to return it, which was actually a very easy
process. Amazon came through as usual, after pricing around and reading some more reviews, and checking out local retailers I ended up with the Canon Pixma Ip90 which really met my needs. It is in the $200.00 range but well worth the money and exceeded
all my expectations for a mobile printer

Good printer, not so friendly installation 2005-08-15
Printing quality is good. It's fast when printing on black. Occupies less space than the average home printer. USB cable was not included.
Installing was a really pain. Installing CD could not perform the task. Had to download the drivers from the HP website. Once this was done, everything ran smooth.

Great for small personal office 2005-08-05
A very good printer that takes little space. At $49 I thought it was good way to get started in color printing, since I'd been using a B&W lasterjet for so many years. My husband is so impressed that he told me I could upgrade to another printer and he's take the HP 3745 for his own office. I was able to buy the USB cable at the store I bought the printer.

Mechanically sound, but installation software a problem 2005-06-27
First, for a low-end printer, the HP 3745 is pretty good, once you get it working. It is fairly quiet, and prints with little streaking. It is a bit slow, but high speed is not something I was expecting from a low priced printer.

I did have considerable problems with the installation software. I am far from computer illiterate, but had a lot of trouble getting the printer to work with my system. I finally discovered that the driver the Install Wizard was picking was the wrong one. Once I manually picked the driver, everything ran smoothly.

If you buy this printer, my advice is to be ready to go to hp.com and look at the support page for this printer. Alternatively, use the Help line given in the manual if you have problems with the software installation.

Surprisingly good to be so cheap. 2005-06-03
I'll be honest. I'm not a fan of HP. I worked in the IT field for a number of years, and they always caused me headaches. I bought this printer solely because it was cheap.

I guess I owe HP an apology now, because this little printer has been nearly perfect for me. The print speed and quality are very good for the price, and it's very compact. Unlike other printers that load the paper from a vertical tray in the back, this little DeskJet loads from the front, so the paper stays flat, and won't curl up or jam.

Admittedly, I don't print in large volume, so those who do will likely be better off with a laser printer, or a more ruggedly-built printer. I mainly need something to print ordinary text documents, emails, etc. from time to time. For that, this printer has been very good indeed.

Bad printer 2005-05-08
I could never get this thing to work. It has only printed a couple of pages the whole time i have owned it. Dont buy this unless you want a paper weight
