Looks great, when it is not ruined in shipping!
2008-07-01
I ordered this crib with the matching dresser/changing table combo unit. When the crib arrived, the box was COMPLETELY destroyed from shipping. The cardboard was litterally falling off of the product! Needless to say it was entirely damaged and I needed to call the company immediately to ask for replacement parts (EACH and every part was damaged)!! Storkcraft customer service was great, they shipped the peices out without a problem, however it took over 3 weeks to arrive. I was very disappointed with the damage, as the finish scratches very very easily and will probably be destroyed in short order by the baby boy that I am expecting! When assembled, it looks great and has the biggest drawer that I've seen on a crib, but do not expect to get this in perfect condition. I must say, however, that customer service will warrenty damaged parts without a problem and I am not sure if it was Storkcraft or UPS that is to blame for the damage.
Poor value for the $$

Well, this product has gotten a lot of bad reviews, but I think if it was cheaper it would take a lot of the sting out of it. I initially chose this crib because of the storage and the fact that it was solid on both ends. I didn't want my daughter in a baby "jail"! It is true that the ends are more veneer than solid wood, they are flimsy panels. My daughter has not yet succeeded in kicking a hole through them yet, although she did damage some of the wood by teething on it.
Assembly wasn't too hard, although the bolt sizes vary and that made it hard to put together (I had to call and order some extra bolts), but I did it all myself with a couple of instances where I needed my husband to hold something up or tighten a bolt for me. It is very easy to drop the side rail, as well as lower the mattress setting when it is time to do so.
I have only had good experiences with their customer service department, they are courteous and efficient. My one complaint is that after using it for 15 months, I just had to spend upwards of $60 to replace the side rail, as it was no longer under warranty and the top bar was cracked all the way through under the teething rail. I do think it gets a lot of wear and tear in that spot, but for a $400 crib, I kind of expect better.
Overall, a pretty piece of furniture, but caveat emptor for sure!!
Missing drawer
2006-06-16
I have to completely agree with the bad reviews Storkcraft receives. My friend purchased this crib from them. It arrived with the bottom drawer missing. After numerous unsuccessful attempts to contact customer service to resolve the matter, she gave up. Thankfully, her husband is a carpenter and will make a drawer for it, but it is ridiculous that he has to make a drawer for a brand new piece of furniture. Until he can get the drawer done, they are storing linen in boxes underneath the crib on the floor where the drawer should be. Crying shame.
Regarding the sturdiness, the crib does shake a bit more than I would like. Letting down the railing was difficult. I stopped trying for fear I would break something. My friend purchased the entire furniture collection and the other pieces are sturdy and fine.
I am not entirely impressed with the look of the honey color of this furniture. It looks a little too fake laminate for my taste (of course I didn't tell her that). And it looks too dark to be called "honey". Therefore, be sure to check out the wood colors carefully before purchasing because other honey oak colors I have seen are lighter than this one.
Overall, it seems Storkcraft is hit or miss in regards to quality. My friend also had shipping problems with this company. After it was all said and done, she advised me never to purchase furniture from Storkcraft, and neither will she ever again. I definitely intend to heed that sage advice. Why take the gamble when there is sooo many other manufacturers that make nursery furniture?
Disapointment

I bought this crib in white. What a disapointment. The finishing is awful. No decent mobile will fit this crib. It is not so easy to assemble as people say here. I actually bought another one (that cost only $ 169.99) and put this one for sale.
DO NOT ORDER STORKCRAFT PRODUCTS
2006-04-12
I have had nothing but problems with this company. I was missing bolts for an item. I contacted the company but it took me a month to get back to me. They then told me that I need to pay 10 dollars because the parts were not under warranty. Took care of that, but still waiting on bolts. Order the piece in December, it is now April and still not able to assemble.
Great crib!

My mother purchased this item from Wal Mart's website because they were cheaper. The crib arrived within a week. There was one problem with the headboard assembly where the pieces didn't properly fit together, but we were able to call Storkcraft and have a replacement sent to our home within a couple of weeks. My husband easily assembled the crib in a couple of hours! I even helped a little bit. Great quality, and it's absolutely beautiful! Our daughter is due in May, and I can't wait to put her to bed in it!
All things considered

The Aspen Stages Crib with Drawer was a decent buy. Once we figured out how to begin assembly each of the partial instruction sheets were relatively easy to follow (there is no single manual with comprehensive instructions). The shipment arrived in great time prior to the projected delivery date of the crib and all of the pieces arrived undamaged. It's a beautiful piece upon assembly. The drawer is fully functional; the simple drop-down side rail is easy to get the hang of; the directions for future bed conversion are conveniently mounted to the bottom crib support. Thus far, I would definitetly purchase this piece again and recommend it to other expecting parents. It remains to be seen how fully functional it is...we have another 5 weeks to go before the actual due date.
Don't waste your time!!!

We oredered this crib when I was 3 months pregnant.... My son was 5 months old when we recieved it!!! We tried to call and cancel the order but Amazon shipped it anyway and we kept it since we already had paid for it. As if that isn't bad enough, Storkraft didn't drill two holes so we couldn't even use it! Don't waste your time or money!
Nice Crib, Awful instructions
2006-02-11
This really is a nice piece, however be prepared to set aside a long time to assemble. The instructions were really bad and don't even waste your time trying to use the Allen key as it does not fit any screw other than 4 on the draws! The nuts and bolts that hold the crib together are a nightmare to match up. You will need at least 3 people to assemble this crib. The end result is worth the hassle. The foot and head boards are not solid pieces of wood as the picture suggests, it is veneer and flimsy.
I would NOT reccommend buying this crib!

My husband and I purchased the `Aspen Stages Crib with Drawer-Oak through the Babies R Us online website. We received the crib a few days ago and are very disappointed in the quality. Upon removing the crib pieces from the shipping box, we found that many of the wooden parts had scratches and dents in them. In fact, one of the wooden segments was actually completely cracked and split apart! We were very surprised in the poor quality of this piece of furniture, especially after we spent nearly $450.00 (with S & H) in order to purchase it.
This is our first baby and should be a positive experience. This crib, however, has definitely put a damper on this otherwise joyous occasion. I am rating this product on-line so that other new parents do not have to experience the disappointment and regret that my husband and I have.
