Editorial Review
Available in all sizes and types- Light Duty and Heavy Duty. With or without center supports. (Center Supports are advisable for adult bedding.) Consider the heavy duty series with multiple center supports if you have a sagging bed problem or are of above average height or weight. Bolt on rails are typically used with brass or metal type beds with a head and foot board arrangement.

These will get the job done, but they could have been designed better 2007-10-03
Hook-on rails are hard to find in a retail shop these days. Everyone has the standard rails where you bolt the headboard to the rails, but not the ones that you hook on. I was very please to find these at Amazon.

If I had a problem, it's that these are one-size fits all. The basic kit isn't hard to assemble - two rails with a crossbar. There's also two wires that are intended to provide cross-beam support. Each wire attaches to a corner, and then to the far corner of the other rail. When complete, they form an X. According to the instructions, you don't need slats to provide support for the mattress if you attach these wires.

However, when I tried to attach the wires to the frame, which was configured to fit a standard twin bed, I ran into a problem. They weren't long enough. The wires couldn't fit on a standard twin-size bed. I read the instruction several times, and tried to make them work, but they weren't long enough to reach the designated holes for attachment. I hate to think how they could have accommodated a full-size bed.

I still made it work by placing the wooden slates I have used with the previous frame. It worked just fine. So make sure you have wooden slats, and this frame will work as a replacement for your old frame.
