Slow with good quality.

It tells you that it prints at 17 pages per minute but that isn't true. It takes a very long time to print out anything from text to images. It you arn't looking for speed then I would suggest this printer. The quality is what you get for the buck. So if you need nothing fancy this is the best printer for the price.

By far I hate the chore of installing a new piece of equipment to my computer. When my old Epson printer of 7 years broke (because of a stupid move on my part)I knew to fix it would not be cost effective due to the low price of newer models.
I selected the Epson C66 and found it was super easy to install. It took all the stress out of setting up. The print quality is EXCELLENT!!!! I order the printer, paid for it. The item supposedly shipped but it never arrived at my house. I cancelled my order and hopefully you will return my money as promised.
Basic printer, poorly executed

The Epson C66 mostly does what you'd expect from a $60 inkjet printer, but doesn't do anything exceptionally well. So I would give it 3 stars. Except for two things. One, the draft print mode is VERY faint and basically illegible. Two, it's VERY slow to start printing the first page. I'll keep using mine (at least until the ink cartridges run out), but I wouldn't recommend buying one.
good value for the printer compromised by cost of cartridges 2005-06-29
when i first purchased this and started using it i thought i got a great deal on a very reliable color printer. then after not all that many printings (it's only applied for light residential use), i realized that epson's strategy was to lure you in with the price of the printer so they could make money by selling you the ink cartridges. they wear out fast and they cost almost 1/2 the price of the printer per cartridge. if i had to do it again i'd probably do more research on cartride cost and life to make cost comparisons.
Ok while it works 2008-06-22
Cheap printer, but even for a cheap one, it is quite poorly made. I jams paper practically non-stop, the printer refuses to accept paper, makes noises, runs slow, prints poor quality photos (when it works) and the ink is pricey. Spend more and get a better model. This is my second disappointment from an Epson printer.
Epson Stylus - Poor Construction 2007-12-22
Despite very good print performance and quality for the price range, this printer does not last. After less than 2 years of light but regular usage, one change of ink, and less than a single ream of paper, the print head failed. Epson's only answer - Buy another Epson! I don't think so.
It's NOT a good deal. 2006-07-11
Purchased this printer about a year ago to replace an old HP deskjet. Here'a my experience.
Installation was easy. Even worked well with Linux. First 30 or so pages came out great (albeit extremely slow). I was happy with the printer for about 1 week.
Then the problems started. The ink cartridges are quite small, and run out quickly. And as everyone knows, ink can be quite costly. Epson is no exception.
Also, the print heads seem to get dirty very easily. I constantly end up with smudges and drops and drips on the finished product.
After about a month of use the paper stopped feeding properly, and now everything I print comes out crooked.
But this is the straw that broke the camel's back. About a month ago I needed to print an important document in a hurry. The printer returns the message that the ink is out. Well, I haven't used the color ink for at least a month or longer, so I assumed it was the black ink that was empty. I put in a new cartridge. Still nothing. It turns out that it was the yellow ink that was empty, BUT THE PRINTER WILL NOT WORK - NOT EVEN IN GRAYSCALE - IF ANY OF THE FOUR INK CARTRIDGES ARE EMPTY. So now I have to buy a yellow ink cartridge so I can print in balck and white?
The printer initially had appeal because it was inexpensive and printed nice pictures (at least for the first few weeks). But it's been more of a problem than it's worth. If you are considering this printer, take my advice and look elsewhere. Spend the extra $40 and get something good. You'll wish you had in the long run.
As for me, I'll throw this piece of junk out and buy a new printer before I fork out for any more ink.
The only thing good about it is the price 2006-06-11
This is my fourth inkjet printer (2 HPs, a Canon and now this Epson)...and the worst I've had. Here are the things that are wrong:
Paper loads in the back and is difficult to get loaded quickly and easily...so if you run out of paper during a print job it's a real pain.
Goes through ink very quickly. Cartridges are $$
If one of the color inks (the unit has FOUR ink cartridges) runs out, you can't print at all...not even just in black and white.
Does a poor job printing in color...rarely reproduces colors correctly, even after calibration.
I'm going back to an HP.
My Epson Experience - BEWARE! 2005-10-30
I would strongly urge anybody that is considering an Epson printer to be cautious. Although I certainly do not EXPECT your experience to be the same as mine, as an active consumer I wish to convey my frustrations with Epson care/service/support.
About two years back I had an Epson Stylus Inkjet (forget which model now) that failed while still under warranty. I mean, the printer FROZE my computer and there were HUNDREDS of crossed out (RED) printer icons all over my screen. Then I began getting code imposed over my desktop screen with words like "printer failed" in the message. Yes, at the time I had an Apple computer, but that's of lesser relevance...
I called Epson, as my printer was still under warranty for about 8 more weeks. They said they recognized this sounded bad and wanted me to send the printer in (at my expense, start the tab running $). I did. On the same call, they said they could either send me a new printer, or I could- under THE CIRCUMSTANCES I had- go buy one from a local store to have immediately and they'd reimburse me. I opted to buy locally. I bought ANOTHER same model while mine was in transit to Epson (tab $ increase).
Then came the true frustration. Epson spent NEARLY 3 months in "processing" my return authorization. They acknowledged they had received it. They would NOT reimburse me for a new one. They claimed that they needed to determine if my printer was failing due to defect or negligence (I included SCREEN SHOTS in the return box of nasty printer icons covering my frozen computer, how can that be negligence?).
After many, many calls to Epson service, they continued to say they could not yet reimburse me. At one point, they even tried to say that I should NOT have bought one locally as their standard procedure would be to send a warranty replacement from their warehouse. On this point they quickly withdrew, since I had phone records of who I had talked to.
Needless to say, after several months go by, I was told with finality that:
"Epson would not repair nor replace my printer because it was no longer under warranty."
Now, I had a relatively NEW printer from them (this one started having printer head alignment problems in the first few months) and they had held my returned inkjet printer from OVER A MONTH from BEFORE my warranty expired. Now, instead of being out only the original $250 for my original printer, I had patronized a company that had given me difficulty with ANOTHER $300, and also about $20 shipping, and about 50 hours of my time.
I've had a Canon i950 6-color inkjet with borderless printing that I am extremely happy with since then. Cheers.
