replacement noisy and less powerful
2008-06-24
This is a replacement for one that lasted 10+ years. This one sounds like a threshing machine, is not as powerful, difficult to seat, therefore leaks.
What happened to Waterpik? Made in China now?
Wish I knew what to replace it with.
Mini Water Pik

It's neither as easy to use or efficient as the regular model, but it takes up less counter space and does a fairly good job of dislodging food hiding between teeth. However, mine was sent from factory missing one tip, and the company has yet (several weeks have passed since being notified) contacted me or sent me the second tip. Each tip allows a different amount of water pressure to be applied to gums.
We hate it for different reasons

I bought this for my 9 yr old who has braces. It worked fine.
Our problem was that she dropped it and the the tip broke off.
That was not too big of a problem--we still had the second tip.
But then she dropped it again. Now our problem is that we can't get replacement tips.
The Waterpik site says that they are out of stock.
So we have a waterpik that works (battery-wise) but no tips.
I will take everyone's advice and not buy another one.
Before you chuck your waterpik for the battery issues--consider sending me the tips :)
Waste of money unless u love buying new ones

the flaw to this product's design is that if continually used you will replace it every 3-6 months(battery will no longer charge). Undoubtedly part of the company's design to line their pockets with more money. They could haVE DONE SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO MAKE IT LAST much LONGER. Go with the much better choice.ShowerBreeze w/ 3' hose Oral IrrigatorUnlimited water supply, no refilling. No DEAD batterries ever. And plenty of water pressure. NO CONTEST.
Fantastic product!

This is so convenient and easy to use. I had continual low-grade infection until it was discovered under my gums. The Waterpik forces water into those areas that can't be reached and cleans everything out. My mouth feels so much better!
Great for what it is...Small and Portable!

I bought this just prior to getting braces. I am in my 30's so I know what I need to do to keep my braces clean and was looking for something that wasn't bulky but would work well. After promptly breaking the high power tip because I didn't read directions I figured out how to use it properly with the low power.
It fishes all the gunk out and helps my mouth feel cleaner as well as clean out the braces so that they continue to dig into my cheeks and tongue. I have now broken the low power tip and just ordered replacements (cheaper on Amazon even with shipping than at the waterpik store) and I miss using it already.
Yes I have to refill it, but it's portable - isn't the point of being cordless/portable making it small enough to carry around? I took it on vacation and it lasted all week with no recharge. I (knock on wood) have not had any issue with the battery and no, I don't drain it all the way first.
One has worked for years; the other lasted three weeks

My dentist talked me into getting braces in my 40s, and I can't imagine surviving through orthodontics without a Waterpik -- there is no other way to do what these machines do.
Having said that, Waterpik's quality control is dreadful. I have a personal model at home, and -- I am not making this up -- I had to send it back for replacement twice in the first week of operation. The woman in customer service actually said "Well, maybe the third time will be a charm", and in fact I have had no further trouble with that unit in three years.
I own two WP-360W Waterpiks, one that I bought two years ago (and still going strong), and one that I bought on vacation last month. I used the new unit without incident for three weeks, and then it suddenly stopped operating. There was no transition period during which it worked intermittently or slowly; it abruptly stopped working, and as soon as I finish writing this review, I am going to throw it away.
When it works, the WP-360W is a great product. Sure, it is noisy, and sometimes the tip pops off and spatters you with water because the designers located the "eject" button for the tip right next to the "on" button. But it does a good job, and it's a "must" if you wear braces and like to travel.
I would strongly encourage you to keep your receipt for any Waterpik product you buy, because -- if my experience is typical -- you are likely to encounter quality problems. It's really a shame that their manufacturing QA mars what would otherwise be an excellent product.
Great for Braces!

I don't know what the complaint is about this. This is a great product and convenient. Pros: Takes up less space, easy to fill up, can take on the go. Cons: Have to have a large sink to fill up, wipe down after use. You have to sacrific a little bit for the convenience of it. If you do only get 2-3 years out of it, that is only $22, which is not too bad and seems about right to other waterpics. All in all, it is a great product, just wipe it down after you use it with your towel or tissue, so the water doesn't get in the AC plug.
Not bad!

Had this for a few weeks with no problem and it still holds its first charge.
Do Not Buy This Waterpick!!
