Love this little gadet

Since I just wanted something portable and cheap, I love this little gadget. It works great and has lots of features. Battery life is an issue, but I plug it all the time anyways. Otherwise, picture and sound are great. For the money, its good. Yes, this is a cheap item. Like other cheap things, its not going to last if you let your kids run around the house with this item. It won't last long if your 5 year old is operating it while bouncing around in your minivan (duh!) But it you want something inexpensive and portable, its a good choice.

Bought this DVD player last year for our summer vacation, it worked for about 1 year, and now it wont even turn on, even when plugged into the wall. I would spend a bit more next time, to get something that is actually going to last.

Just got is on Black Friday at Frys (...). Can't believe how great the picture is. Fantastic buy. There is a problem with leaving the battery in the unit but if you read the instructions it does advise you to remove the battery since the LCD does stay on for the remote and will cause your battery to drain. All in all the sound is ok but the picture is very nice and I have been using this unit everyday at work and it has not skipped on me once. I should of got more of these units when I could. Great bang for my buck

Wow, everyone but me seems to like this product. Look at the reviews at target.com and NOBODY likes this product. I watched 6 movies on mine before it broke. Couldn't hear the sound with the earphones and had to turn volume up to max to barely hear without them. Freezes many movies in the middle. Battery life on mine never made it through one movie. COMPLETE waste of money.
Does the job and does it well

Have used this DVD player several times with no problems. It works easily and the directions are clear. It hooks up to a TV with basic 3 plug adpater(included) or you can watch on the included screen. It works best with headphones or earplugs or a set of external speakers. It isn't very loud from its own speakers.
I find the picture to be clear if you adjust the screen angle to the one that suits you best.
So far, no problem with battery life (have played 3 movies all they way through with no problems). Just plugged in and charged the battery between uses. Please note that the manual says that after 300 charges, the battery reduces to 80% of the original time. If I watch 300 movies on this unit with no other problem, I will just live with the power limitations or buy another battery. (I was told that the battery would be about $50+).

I love my portable DVD player. Sure, the battery life really stinks, but other than that my DVD player can do anything.
I wouldn't pay $225 for it now, what with more superior machines out, but I am fond of this one and would recommend it to friends.
I have not had any issues with the disc being off balance, or any strange noises coming from my machine.
You can probably find a better DVD player for the same price, if not less.
Cyberhome knowingly sold faulty units! 2006-09-07
I bought this DVD player when I was on holiday in Florida in 2004. It packed up after a week and I returned it for a replacement. When I got back home the device packed up again after a couple of weeks.
Unknown to me at the time these units were being sold with a known fault with the battery. Cyberhome thought by adding an addendum to the units they were STILL shipping out faulty that they would not have to fix the fault.
The problem with the battery was it became "dead" if left in the unit and allowed to drain. When this happened the battery could no longer be charged with the supplied charger.
Again Cyberhome provided a "fix" rather than recall the faulty units and give the customers a fully working model. They let customers know there was a battery conditioner which would revive the battery to it's normal glory BUT, it wasn't free, you had to pay for it!
As you can guess the customers weren't happy and caused a fuss which forced Cyberhome to provide them for free.
I still think the units should have been completely replaced but at least this was better than nothing.
As if things couldn't get worse, because I was a visitor to the USA, I had no rights according to Cyberhome to have my unit repaired. They wouldn't even send a battery conditioner to my address in the UK...their excuse?...."We cannot ship to the UK". Where have you ever heard such rubbish? Their products are made in Taiwan!
I put it down to lazy and bad customer service and I will not deal with this company again. I hope whoever reads this will have the same sentiments as me.
To this day, 2 years on I have had 3 weeks use of a device which cost me more than $200.
Thanks for nothing Cyberhome. I hope your company crashes to it's knees, where it belongs!
Battery Life is not good

I bought two of these for both of my children to use. They would put in a movie and before the movie was over the screen would start to flicker and then it went completely black. The sound is good and the picture is clear but the battery is an issue. I would never take this on an airplane cause it might only get you through take off before it quits on you.
Do Not Buy This! 2006-04-22
From day one it never worked properly. Would take several reboots to read a DVD. Had terrible problems blacking out or going dead if the power cord was jiggled. It was still under warranty, so we sent it back and the manufacturer sent us a new one. Same problems with the new one. Battery life is not long enough to play a movie all the way through. Very cheaply made. Don't waste your money on it.
Battery is a problem 2006-03-13
I took this on my first trip and was hoping to use it to watch movies. I had charged the unit the night before the trip and was looking forward to using it. I was very disappointed when i first turned the player on and it would not play. It was a sad day for me. It worked the next day but only lasted long enough to watch one short movie. My parents could not get it to work for the flight home either. DO NOT BUY, COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY
