Editorial Review
Reusable Desiccating Canisters protect all types of articles from deterioration, rust, corrosion, mold, mildew and other damage caused by moisture or high humidity. Simply place a can together with the article to be protected in a tightly closed or sealed moisture resistant container. The can will rapidly and actively desiccate the surrounding air and keep it that way to protect against moisture damage. Typical applications include: Laboratory equipment and chemicals. Cameras, lenses, photos and film. Scientific instruments. Medical and dental instruments. Tools. Museum and historical artifacts. Clothing and fabrics. Shoes and leather articles

I'm unhappy 2008-10-06
I can't say if the product works or not because I haven't been able to use it. It didn't come with any instructions and I've called the company twice. I spoke to a very nice woman who promised to call the manufacturer and get all the info to me along with written instructions on how to use the product. They haven't called back and I plan to call again this morning. (Adorama Silica Gel with refills)

Dehumidifier 2008-05-22
Very good alternative to the little packets I usually use in my camera cases. Seems to do the job and I can "bake it" and use it again and again.

Lasts forever. 2008-01-18
These things are designed for removing moisture in bags/cases/boxes, etc. You can use them in your acid free photo boxes, your gun or guitar cases, camera or telescope bags, etc.

When the indicator turns pink, pop it in the oven at 250 degrees for a couple of hours until the indicator is blue again and it's ready for reuse.

With proper care these things will last darn near a lifetime. Just make sure you do not accidentally spill anything on the beads or the "pores" will clog and they will no longer function. (Moisture in the air is free from minerals that can clog the beads)

My husband has had one for his small ammo box for around 10 years now and it still functions like a champ.

Instructions were on case in older model 2007-03-07
I bought one of these items in December '04 from Adorama. It had directions written in raised letters on the canister itself. I just ordered here and received a second one in March '07 and the "new" model has no instructions. Other than that, it looks identical to the old one, so I assume the contents are the same.
Here are the exact words written on the old one:
"HYDROSORBENT 40 GRAM SILICA GEL"
"WHEN PINK, REACTIVATE 3 HOURS AT 300F"
The pink referred to is the little circle in the center of the canister.

I keep this product with my camera (in closed stuff sack) and it seems to work as advertised - though I guess you just have to have faith that it does - no easy way to prove it (except maybe in extremely humid climes).

How does it work? 2007-01-04
The Adorama Silica Gel came without any instructions on how to use and reuse it. I emailed customer service at Adorama to ask how to use it and how to recharge it once it has absorbed enough moisture but they did not respond. I can't tell when it needs recharging and when it is ready. What color should it be and what color should indicate recharging. How to I recharge it? Nothing tells me how to recharge it. So far, money wasted. Unresponsive to my emails.

Review: ... "Click! The No Nonsense Guide to Digital Cameras" is misnamed. It covers a lot more than just cameras. In a couple of hundred pages, it includes using a scanner and Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 to rescue faded, damaged family photos, the basic guidelines to good picture taking, how to use Elements 2 to improve your digital photos, and how to print and preserve your pictures for the ages. White, the author of the bestseller "How Computers Work," knows how to pack a lot of helpful, understandable information in a brief no nonsense book.

Review: "This Camera is one of the best in its price range. It takes beautiful clear pictures and can be used right out of the box, but its worth learning all its features. The included memory holds about 20-25 pictures so I upgraded to 128mb. I reccomend getting a 128mb card and the Sony camera case. Not only is this one of the best cameras in its class it includes decent software and rechargeable batteries that are at least a 20$ value.
HIGHLY reccomend over canon, kodak, and fuji. One more thing this camera has CARL Zeiss lens (if you dont know, great lens) all the competetors have generic lens."

From the Back Cover The megapixel hype
The fact is a camera’s megapixel rating is only a measure of how many pixels (photosensitive sites) an image sensor has…. An image sensor is simply one component of an entire system that produces a digital photograph… So resist buying into the megapixel hype when you’re choosing a digital camera. From Chapter 1
