Editorial Review
The Canon Pixma iP3000 Photo Printer delivers speed, quality and convenience in a stylish package. How fast is it? It produces up to 22 ppm in black and up to 15 ppm in color and a beautiful 4" x 6" borderless print takes only 36 seconds. Plus, you have the convenience of direct photo printing: simply connect any PictBridge-compatible digital camera or DV camcorder, and print! This PC-free process eliminates the need to be tied to your computer saving you time. But the Pixma iP3000 Photo Printer isn't just fast. It also achieves impressive detail and clarity, as a result of Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE). This technology features an upgraded 1,600-nozzle print head that ejects precise, consistent droplets as small as 2 picoliters, for amazing photo-realism. This high-efficiency printer also uses a specially formulated black ink for laser-like text on reports and letters, along with high-intensity color inks for brilliant photos and graphics. Your borderless photos, from 4 x 6 up to 8.5 x 11 in., will have the look and feel of traditional photographs. To help reduce printing costs, this efficient system has four individual ink tanks that let you replace only the color that runs out, rather than an entire cartridge containing unused ink. Plus, a unique low-ink sensor alerts you when ink levels are low, so you are prepared to just drop in a new tank when needed.

By Far The Best, The Most Reliable, The Most Cost Effective Printer I've Ever Had! 2007-04-06
I have had about 6 printers before this one. This is the only printer I've had that is easily refilled, no hiccups, fuss, error messages. In addition, the printer has the quiet mode option, which significantly reduces printing noise -- comparable to laser printers. I am a student, and I use PowerPoint a lot; I use the alternative sheet feeder from the bottom, loaded with 4x6 index cards, to print lecture slides. Even more, with duplex on, I am further able to print two lecture slides back-to-back of the index paper. Wow!

In 3 years, I never had had to buy any additional ink cartridge.
The ink refill bought for only $32 at Costco has taken care of all my ink needs.

This product has paid for itself many times over.
Boy was I lucky to have stumbled onto this product.

Unfortunately, the news is up; currently the going price on eBay for this printer is around $200. That's ironic, considering that printers usually depreciate, not appreciate in price. [grin]

Excellent Printer 2007-03-10
Great Prints - all kinds of paper. Printing on both sides is awesome! Ink cartridges are cheap to buy, it almost doesn't pay to re-fill - but I do anyway.

Great printer but getting expensive to buy on eBay 2007-02-21
I bought one of these for my daughter's homework needs as well as for the CD printing ability. Delighted with the purchase. The US printers will not print to CD as default, you need to do a quick Google search to learn how to do it. Ink is cheap, especially if you refill yourself (maybe $0.50 a cartridge). Print quality is excellent. Outside plastic case looks like junk, but the inside is what counts, right?

I'm now trying to buy another one on eBay, but everyone is getting wise to the value of this printer. Many of them are now going for $200+ and that's a little rich for my blood.

So:

excellent print quality
CD printing
cheap ink
replaceable nozzles
duplexing

A great machine. I have to scratch my head when I read some of the negative reviews on this site...

Canon's dont last 2007-02-09
This is the 3rd Canon printer I have bought in just over 3 years and it is the last time I will ever buy one. At just over one year of owning each printer, I had different problems with each one, too expensive to repair, so ended up just buying another. But after this one, I will never buy another Canon. They work well for about a year, but after that they quit running. I used to have high regards for Canon products and I always bought one because of the multiple inket refills but it is worthless to me if I have to buy another every year and just after the warranty runs out.

Don't Pay For This 2007-02-08
I received this unit for free when I purchased my laptop. "Why would anybody give away a perfectly good printer," I thought. After using it I i quickly realized why the store couldn't wait to get rid of them. This unit is no good for the regular, digital picture enthusiast. Why? It utilizes CMYK. This means that all of your photos have to be converted and even then they won't hardly resemble the colors on your monitor. Only design nerds and professionals use CMYK and that's for printing jobs. As well, the lines per inch (lpi) is severely out of whack with my unit. I have to finagle everything I do in Photoshop to a great degree in order to avoid having vertical streaks on my prints.

Even if my unit has some strange quirks that others don't, I highly advise the regular user to stay away due to the CMYK cartridges (which are also more expensive than say HP's). 2 stars out of 5

Best Printer i Ever Owned 2008-02-13
By far the best printer i have ever owned. I have had Lexmark, Epson, other Canons, HP, and this beats them all hands down. I love the paper tray so i am not always having to reload. Easy on ink. Print quality is outstanding. And it lasts forever. I have never worn out a printer, just print heads and similar parts. But that seems to happen pretty quick after the warranty ends. I don't think i ever had another printer (except the old reliable pre-inkjet type) for that a year. I can't remember when i got this one i have had it so long. I think it is at least 3 years old and maybe a good bit older and still cranking. I think Canon thinks it was a pretty good machine because i returned a different printer that had issues and they replaced it with this one. At first i was miffed because i had done a lot of research and thought the other was THE ONE. Then i used this one a bit and forgot all about the other one. AFter all this use it occasionally says it is out of paper when there are a few sheets left, but that is its only issue. Most trouble free high quality printer i evern had. When it dies i am calling Canon to get their recommendation unless they are still selling this one.

Dependable all-around printer- great for college students 2007-12-13
I bought this printer when I entered college, 4 years ago, and it has preformed great for the whole time. This printer is really a jack-of-all trades, with fast crisp text and adequate quality picture prints. I mainly use this for printing out reports, and it does so with ease (those not familiar with modern ink-jets will be amazed at how quickly it can crank out text pages). I also take alot of digital photos, and use this to make medium-quality prints for my friends and family; the two tray paper system it uses makes it easy to keep a supply of plain paper and photo paper in the unit and select either with a button push. The built in pic-bridge port is great when I want low-quality proof prints right away!

Very good printer 2007-09-29
Color photos come out with different color. They look like with more contrast. I wish the auto feeder could support at least 2 types of input such as photo papers and letter size papers. It prints very good jobs except for the photos.

Better Printers Out There 2007-08-07
I bought this printer over two years ago for my office. It has been printing fine, but is a very slow printer. It takes a good two or three minutes just to warm up. Canon support was good to help when I had an issue with it last year when it was still under warranty. I would recommend finding a newer model, and still sticking with Canon since I've had better experiences with them than HP. HP seems to install a lot of unneeded software on your computer.

Great double siding printer 2007-06-08
This is my low cost travel printer that double sides like a champ. I highly recommend it.
