SEEMS TO WORK PRETTY GOOD

I bought this printer based on the reviews given below. I was trying to find a printer that was good quality and used lower cost ink cartridges. So it has been pretty good. I have used it since july of 2005 and it has performed well. Ink cartridges are much cheaper than my former HP photosmart printer p1000 i think that's what it was called. The only thing is i wished this printer had a paper exit tray. But anyway it has been very dependable and i like it. I would buy another one. gg

I replaced my Epson RX500 ($245.00) due to $$$ ink replacement and other issues, and I love this little printer! After almost five months of steady printing I'm replacing the black ink tank for the first time (about $7). It's a little rough on the paper feed but cranks documents out quickly. Photo quality is average for the price of this unit. However, compared to the enormous costs of the Epson ink tanks, this Canon has already paid for itself. I've printed out resumes, pictures, spreadsheets, and loads of emails on this machine. Well worth the price!
Couldn't be any better! 2005-11-17
I am using this lovely printer for about two months. It has given everything you would expect from a printer despite its affordable price so far. Color printing is almost lab quality. Quite fast, easy to handle and maintain. Rest assured, relatively cheaper cartridges won't be pain in the back unlike other 'expensive' printers. Don't let them cheat you with the 'change only empty cartridge for each color' lie. They always all become empty at the same time. As a result, you won't be sorry with this very cute and highly operable printer at all.
Better than expected 2005-10-19
I don't have any special needs, and for what I use it: letters, ocasional photos the machine is great. Ink is very affordable witch is a biiig plus in my books. Set up is a breeze for Windows, for Mac U must download the drivers, but than is smooth sailing.
Freezes Internet Browser

Overall - Great quality, average speed prints, crappy software compatibility. You get a good deal for the price.
The Easy Web Print Software that comes with the printer freezes Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer. Maybe just my computer sucks. The printing quality is great, the printer never jams, kinda slow but that may be due to my long usb2.0 cable.
Worked Fine At First...

This product worked well enough initally but I was not at all impressed with it's true color abilties when used to print anything other then text. After a few months things only got worse when I began to notice severe ink smears or splotches appearing upon all printed documents. Now it's like it is possessed and it only works correctly after about 10 tries. Thanks to the crappy quality of this printer I will soon be purchasing a new one and without a doubt it will not be this model!
Just Keeps on Ticking! 2007-09-11
I have the Pixma ip1500 at work and at home. I have no problems with it ever! I am an appraiser and crank out appraisals all day long on it. It never fails me. The biggest plus is the ink cost is so reasonable. $7 for a black cartridge and $18 for color. I have found even better deals on auction sites for the genuine Canon ink. Can't go wrong with this printer!!!!

Prints sideways and squiggly. Couldnt fix it no matter what I did. Barely used it before it started messing up.
A Sorry Excuse For A Printer 2006-12-07
Canon really laid an egg when they flew this turkey to the market. When you click on that print button, go have a cup of coffee, take a nap, watch TV for awhile. Your print job *may* have printed by the time you return, but probably not, because 1)the Pixma can't find the paper in the feed tray (it's there), 2)the colored ink tank is low (it's not), 3) the black ink tank is low (it wasn't) 4)the paper is jammed (how can it be, when Pixma can't find the paper in the tray?). Hit 'print' again, and it *might* eventually print your report, but more likely it won't because the ink tanks have dried up waiting for you to clear all the other errors. What a piece of junk! Absolutely positively the worst printer I have ever owned or used, bar none, and I've worked with many. There's a hundred different software utilities and options to figure out, none of them help with anything at all, and they just add to the level of frustration. Instead of giving us all this useless software, just give us a printer that prints, Canon!

Absolutely Positively the WORSE Printer I have ever owned. I have a feeling these other reviewers...no offense...havent owned and operated the printer long enough to make a valid appraisal. I have been using it (when it works) for 6 months and it sucks. I use it for trivial printing at this point...just to use up the ink ive invested in. After that....its in the trash. If anyone wants it...they can have it for the cost of shipping. I'll put it on amazons used sale list.
