Editorial Review
GHS is spearheading the conscious movement towards health and injury prevention for musicians around the world. The GHS Handmaster Plus(tm) stands alone as the leading product for hand muscle strengthening and balancing. The Handmaster Plus hand exerciser provides musicians a complete hand and finger workout that is both convenient and easy to use.   Why are musicians especially subject to lower arm pain?    ·  9 muscles close the hand and, equally, 9 muscles open the hand. These muscles attach to and therefore directly influence the balance of the hand, wrist and elbow. ·  Musicians, through repetition, inherently overdevelop the 9 muscles that close the hand, causing hand, wrist and elbow imbalance. ·  Muscle imbalance leads to poor performance, overuse and injury.  ·  Muscles, joints and tendons are healthiest when regularly exercised through full, natural ranges of motion, resulting in optimum blood flow . The challenge of maintaining hand, wrist and elbow health is constant to all musicians. This challenge boils downs to ensuring that the 9 muscles that close the hand remain in optimum balance with the 9 muscles that open the hand. When all muscle groups are exercised regularly, maximum balance and blood flow results, allowing the musician to attain their maximum performance and reduce their risk of future injury .   The Handmaster plus hand and finger exerci...

Great idea, but... 2005-07-18
I'm a classical guitarist who's been struggling over the past couple of years with symptoms of focal dystonia. I ordered this product (not through Amazon) about two months ago and I have to say that it really works. It's helped me to regain strength and independence in my middle and ring fingers and has also eliminated the numbness, tingling and pain that I worried was the start of carpal tunnel syndrome. The down side of this product is that the rubber bands supplied with it are very flimsy and both of mine snapped at the thumb within six weeks of my purchasing this item. I haven't yet contacted the manufacturer, so I can't say anything yet about the quality of their customer service, but in the meantime I'm improvising with a set of flat rubber bands that are considerably more comfortable and durable than the ones provided.

Poor Quality Materials Don't Hold Up 2007-09-02
I am a small female with small hands, but the finger cord broke after the 10th use. I am not a strong person, nor did I abuse the product (and even put it back in the box after each use). Thankfully, there is a second finger cord (of smaller size) that I can use. So, I expect this unit to last a total of 20 uses, or 10 days if used twice daily. That is disappointing.

Great Product 2007-04-23
Works great -- much better than an asparagus rubber-band that I was using before. I feel like my fingers are stronger and are healing from RSI. The only reason why I gave it a 4 is because the rubber-band broke right away. However, I was impressed that after sending Handmaster an email, they mailed me several new rubber bands at no charge. I also learned to put my thumb in first and then connect the other fingers and vice versa when removing it. This has prevented any more of the rubber bands from breaking.

All that i hoped for 2007-03-25
It's a complete exercise workout for the fingers, thumb and overall hand (partially for the wrist & forearm as well)...it targets these areas and does a quality job.

could be better 2007-03-21
not as effective as I thought it would be for extension of the fingers and rubber holes for the fingers twist up on you :(
A Simple RUBBER Band work just as well!!!

Finger Cords Break Easily 2007-02-28
I bought a set that included each one of the three strength balls and immediately broke the finger cord on the purple and yellow ball/cord combo. That made me think I need to step up to the red and black combo and after a month or so broke both cords for small hands and large hands. Let me say that I got smallish hands and they are not very strong to say the least and the bands just wear out far too quick.

Now I got the "last man standing" from this sorry trio of hand strengtheners in the form of the Orange and Gray ball/cord combo for "strength training" and I'll probably break those considering how the other products have performed.

I really was into the Handmaster Plus since it worked great for a little while. However, I do not recommend any of the Handmaster Plus balls since they are not durable at all.

Simply put good idea but poor quality.
