Great tool....saves me a lot of time and hassles.

This gadget is expensive....there are cheap knock offs. But, this is a quality instrument and it comes with a great warranty if it ever gets busted.

I have a 55 acre real estate project going on on which I'm doing some of the work myself. I used to go back and forth to my truck to grab this tool or that to adjust something or attach something or fix something. Now I've taken to just putting the Leatherman on my belt loop when I start the day and it has most of the tools I need. I even use it to trim my stogie for a long smoke when I'm mowing fields with the tractor. I'm really a city boy, but now with my leatherman, my tractor and my stogie I feel like a good ole boy!

A excellent multi purpose tool that I use often throughout the work day. I really appreciate the locking feature of the various tools.

Guilty pleasure

I already have a Leatherman Super Tool, so I felt a little guilty spending the scarce bucks to get something only incrementally better. I liked the blades that flip open one-handed and the included scissors, neither of which are on the Super Tool. I got the Wave last night and, as if fate were approving my choice, my sunglasses fell apart during the drive this morning when a screw came out of one of the arms. I was lucky enough to FIND the screw, and doubly lucky that the Wave also comes with an eyeglass-sized screwdriver. Sunglasses are now restored, and I'm already feeling good about my purchase.

The original was slightly better...

I have had the pulse and the original wave....lost my wave and decided to replace it with the new wave. While its a good tool it lacked a few things from the original...the scissors is smaller...the wire stripper and cutter are much duller and the overall quality of and the feel of the metal seems below par with the original....One other thing...I REALLY miss the mini screw driver...it wasn't as small as the micro one in new one but it was used more for smaller jobs. There is now no in between for the micro and the small flat head.

nonetheless...the new wave will definitely serve your needs as my old faithful did...

awesome tool - BUT HAD SCRATCHES

Received the tool in time, but arrived with scratches and fingerprint marks. Well, that's bound to happen eventually but was a great buy at the cost I paid, $58

Leatherman Wave

Took my 6 yr old camping for the first time, so I thought it would be handy to have a multi-tool. She was basically just excited that it had so many functions. We would take it out and use it just for the fun of it.

This review is more anecdotal because around the house, I have a garage full of tools to work with. I think this is a great tool to have in pinch though.

I gave this to my boyfriend recently, and he hasn't put it down! We have been moving for the last two weekends, and this has come in handy many times- from opening boxes, to assembling furniture. Seriously- a GREAT gift!

I RECIEVED THE LEATHERMAN WAVE AS A GIFT 3YEARS AGO AND HAS BEEN EXTREMLY USEFUL. I WORK FOR A MAJOR FIRE DEPT. AND THIS TOOL HAS COME IN HANDY ON A DAILY BASIS JUST DURING NORMAL STATION DUTIES NOT TO MENTION ON INCIDENTS AND GOING CAMPING TOO!

YOU CAN FLIP OUT ALL 4 BLADES WITHOUT HAVING TO OPEN IT WHICH IS FAST AND CONVENIENT. IT'S NOT AS BULKY AS OTHER MULTITOOLS AND BOTH THE STRAIGHT EDGE AND SERRATED BLADE ARE A GOOD SIZE AND QUALITY, SHARP AND CAN BE OPENED AND CLOSED WITH ONE HAND. THE FLAT HEAD AND PHILIPS BITS ARE OBVIOUSLY USEFUL BUT THE MICRO SCREWDRIVER IS ONE OF THE HANDIEST THINGS ON IT. EVERY TOOL ON IT WORKS VERY WELL AND IS QUALITY BUILT. ANOTHER GOOD THING ABOUT IT IS THAT EVERY TOOL LOCKS INTO PLACE WITH THE RELEASE BUTTON ON THE OUTSIDE. PLIERS WORK GREAT BUT NOT HEAVY DUTY, LAST YEAR THE PLIERS SNAPPED DURING AN EXTRICATION(OBVIOUSLY NOT THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THE JOB BUT I WAS KIND OF EXCITED, WE USED A POWER GRINDER TO REMOVE THE BOLTS IN THE END). BUT HAVE NO FEAR IT COMES WITH A 25YR WARRANTY AND LEATHERMAN REPLACED IT NO QUESTIONS ASKED, I PAID LIKE 5 BUCKS FOR SHIPPING WHICH WAS SWEET!

IN THE 3YRS I'VE HAD IT I USED JUST ABOUT EVERY TOOL ON IT AND IT HAS WORKED GREAT AND JUST LOOKS AND FEELS BETTER THAN ANY OTHER TOOL I'VE SEEN AROUND BOTH LEATHERMAN AND GERBER. EVERYDAY AT THE STATION SOMEONE ASKS TO BORROW IT! I READ THAT SOME FIRE DEPTS IN THE UK GIVE IT AS STANDARD ISSUE. THE WAVE DOES NOT FIT WELL IN THE LEATHER SHEATH SO GO FOR THE NYLON SHEATH. IF YOU DO GET IT DON'T FORGET TO RUB IN A LITTLE GREASE TO KEEP IT SMOOTH AND AVOID ANY OXIDIZING BUT THATS EVERY TOOL I GUESS.

AS A MULTITOOL THIS IS A WELL DESIGNED, GREAT QUALITY TOOL AND PERSONALLY THE BEST I'VE SEEN. I BOUGHT ONE FOR A FRIEND ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND HE ALSO LOVES IT!(AT LEAST THATS WHAT HE SAID). BUT IF YOU WANT TO BUY IT AS A GIFT FOR SOMEONE MAKE SURE THEY'LL BE THE TYPE TO CARRY IT AROUND WITH THEM AND NOT THE TYPE TO PUT IN THE GARAGE NEXT TO EVERYTHING ELSE. HOPE THIS REVIEW HELPS

Leatherman 830040 New Wave Multi-Tool with Nylon Sheath

I am presently on my fourth leatherman wave, I keep one in my glove box and usually have one in my pocket. These are a well crafted and engineered tool that does everything but remember where you last had it. I have even had to smack them with a hammer to get a piece of metal to move. The only down side is sharpening the serrated blade.

Great all around tool

Just got this item yesterday from my girlfriend, she bought it at a store but only paid about $3-$4 more than the price on here. I've been talking about getting one for a while now so she surprised me with a "just because" gift & what a gift! This thing has it all but you can read that in the description. I've already used it to fix some things around the house & it was great not having to lug out my big tool box to get it done. I ordered the pocket clip & the bit set yesterday from Amazon & they should be here tomorrow so I can't wait. The pocket clip was a must for me because I'm replacing a Gerber pocket knife with this Leatherman & wearing the belt sheath just isn't for me. I opted for the bit set after reading about them & deciding that it couldn't hurt to have the extra tools available. If you're in the market for a multitool, go with the Wave, it won't let you down!
