First off, you get what you pay for. Paying 36 dollars for a 48" level doesn't get a Stabila. This level is made in China. One vial was somehow, stuck, meaning, it took a lot to make the bubble move. Therefore, the level isn't very sensitive, and therefore, not very accurate. This one's going back, and I'll just stop trying to cut corners, and get a Stabila.

Well what can one say, it's a level :)

The levels themselves are over sized and work well. The yellow color helps ensure you can spot the thing easily enough. I have 2 four foot levels, this one and a cheap fiberglass frame one that is also yellow. The fiberglass one I've dropped many times and it's held together fine. This one though I've never dropped it and I dunno that I'd want to. it's metal, but for some reason I think if i were to drop it hard, might be the end of it... Guess I won't know till I do

Buy this level set if it's priced anywhere below $25

Outstanding quality. However, I've seen an Empire set that was even better for around $40. I put that in my cart, but didn't attempt to buy until a couple days later - price went back up to $84 dollars.

However, this Johnson set was I think $15 or $20. For the money, you just can't beat that. The bubble vials are fully encased in plastic - don't think they will ever break or get knocked out of plumb.

Overall, very pleased with this purchase.

I use this all of the time. I just recently helped a good friend of mine build a new shed. We used both of these continuously and throughtout the whole project. Plus, I like the fact that it is yellow and really easy to see. A+++++++

Got this set when it was on sale for a rediculous price. Product is great for the price.

Amazon wraped it in cardboard and shipped it. It arrived with half the cardboard missing. Being a level I was upset and asked for a replacement which they sent. Packaged the same way and arrived in a similar manner. They wanted me to send the original back. It would have cost me more to buy the box and ship it back than to send me a new one.

These 2 nice levels deserve 5 stars, BUT the 16" level's one side is interrupted in the middle with the bubble thing which means that you can use only another side to draw a line. Actually I loved the 16" one - was perfect for shelves brackets aligning in my 21 x 21 inches pantry.

Great improvement over my venerable old aluminum level, which has served me well, but isn't near the quality of these. The 48" level is very sturdy, which means it'll stand up to my standard practice of leaning it somewhere and then invariably knocking it over. And it has nice shock-absorbing rubber things on the ends. The small one is almost as well built. I'll agree with the other reviewers: the big black sticker on the small level is stuck on there pretty well and requires some time and naptha to get off.

If you or anyone you know is looking for excellent quality levels at a very good price, the Johnson levels cannot be beat. I was shocked at how good the quality of these levels are for the money.

Was skeptical when I saw these here for fifteen, but they came by UPS today and I gotta say I'm VERy impressed. This is the Johnson quality I would expect. Excellent. Only drawback is that the sticker on the 16" level is a pita to get off :(
