Tooth breaker, very hard to play!
2008-06-23
I had a nice jaw harp that eventually broke. Bought one of these as a desperate replacement, big mistake. I wouldn't give this to my worst enemy. The tine (the thing you move to get sound) was unbearably stiff. It was like wrestling with a set of house keys trying to get any kind of sound out of this. You are better off getting a murchunga or a vietnamese jaw harp. They are easy to play, fairly loud and a variety of sweet sounds. You won't believe the difference.
almost didn't buy this because of the reviews...

when i first got this i looked up a how-to video on youtube--for the "complete instructions inside" were only a few incomplete sentences. i saw the person playing with ease and i couldn't manage to get one sound. later i picked it up again and after an hour was playing notes. i ain't a muscian so i can't validate the high-end musical accuracy of this, but i managed to figure this out and make correct noises and differentiate them with my lips and tongue. this obviously isn't for those who want something professional, but if you want to just get into the jew harp for some pocket change, i'd say this provides a lot of fun and cool sounds if you aren't a perfectionist or take yourself too seriously as a musician.
Nice jaw harp

This is my first jaw harp,so it took me a while to get the sound from it,but once I did,I really enjoyed it.Well worth the price.
Can't hear a thing
2007-09-25
This is complete junk, and will frustrate anyone trying to play it. I could not even hear the sound in my own ears! After I bought this paperweight, I went online and found a good one for $23 shipped.
I see that some people have given it high ratings. I suspect that they were either lucky, or that they are shills.
Too quiet to be heard outside my own head.

It's fun to play, but after days of teaching myself to play via the Internet to the point where I could change notes, nobody was actually able to hear me play. It was only audible in my own head. Cheap construction too.
A good first jaw harp

Junk

These aren't worth the money at any price. After a lot of frustration trying to play this thing I actually met a guy that plays regularly. After telling him how much trouble I was having he brought his collection in to work one day and gave a little performance. He spends ~$25 a piece on a harp, I tried one and what a difference. He tried to play this one and could barely get a sound out of it. Spend the extra $20, it's worth it.
8th street music - do not buy from them
2006-07-11
This review is about 8th street music (the seller). Since I never recived two of these that I had ordered, I cannot rate the item, just the seller. After sending me an e-mail about not being able to send me the harps and reinbursing me, neither I nor my bank account heard anything from them.
A lot of fun!

This was my first jaw harp to purchase and has been working just fine for a few years now.
Very nice, especially at this price!
