Swell gadget 2008-05-20
Works well. Used the plug from the Direct TV Receiver. Makes listening easy, and my wife can practice her harp in the same space without either of us being disturbed. Very clear sound.

Does what it supposed to do 2008-04-20
Exactly what I wanted it to do. Sound quality could probably be a little better, but not bad for the price.

Whatta buy! 2008-04-17
This is a terrific product. My 30-year old daughter surfed the net to find a pair for watching tv at bedtime while not disturbing her husband. She recommended the TV Listener to me for the same purpose, and I was elated at the reasonable pricing and crisp stereo sound resolution.

My mom came to live with us...she is hard of hearing, so I bought two more; one for the theater room and one for her bedroom. The volume adjustment is on the headset and is battery powered. We can keep the volume on the tv at a reasonable level and she can turn the headphones up as high as need be.

As long as the batteries are good, there is no static and the stereo effect is noticeable. The headphones are comfortable--we've all fallen asleep wearing them---turning them off after use will prolong battery life. Reception range IS limited, so don't try to run to the kitchen for a snack. I've not tried Unisar's other models, but highly recommend this product.

Didn't Work 2008-04-03
I got this product and it didn't work. Neither on a TV or Radio. The lights indicating it is working are not on either so it could be the power. Customer support is a busy signal for the last two days. You can send it in back to the vendor, but it probably costs to ship back and forth as much as this product is worth. This is the first electronic product I ever purchased that did not work on arrival.

static and strange head placement for headset 2008-03-24
I put this on my Christmas wish list, after finding good reviews for this item. My wife complains when she's sleeping and I'm trying to watch tv, she can't sleep. Anyway, I hooked this thing up and here are the problems I have.

1) For my TV set, and I don't know if others are the same or I plugged it into the wrong spot, (I have a new 55 inch new Sony rear projection), plugging in this headset unit does not actually remove the sound as you would expect. You can still hear the TV when you have the headset sound amplifier on. I hope I didn't plug it into the wrong jack, but it's not easy to get behind my huge TV set, and I tried multiple jacks.

2) The unit does succeed in allowing me to keep the TV sound much lower than I would need to in order to watch TV without the headset, however, the static in the unit is out of control. I tried all sorts of amplifier placements to line up with more line of sight with the headset, and the unit does the job of amplifying, but there is still a lot of static. I couldn't find any line of sight angle that produced no static. Maybe because I'm further away from the unit than is recommended, I'm not sure. Also, I have to tilt the headset in my head in a very unnatural position in order to get the least amount of static.

Conclusion. Sound quality with the static is much worse than expected. If there was a unit that had a very long wire and provided no static, I would buy that one. Having a long wire makes no difference when no one is around to trip over it since they're sleeping. Static sound and inability to completely mute the tv while watching is a 1 to 2 star review in my opinion. I might have given this unit 2 stars, since it sort of barely does the job, but to offset the average 4 star rating, which I find to be very misleading, I give it 1 star.

If anyone can tell me if I'm doing something wrong and how to make this thing work better, I'm all ears.

Unisar Sounds TV Listener - Poooo 2008-07-26
What a dissapointment. Don't waste your money on this product. I pick up more Mexican music than TV reception.

Great item! 2008-07-22
I absolutely love this thing. When my roommate wants to read, and I want to watch tv, I just put the headphones on and we can both enjoy our evening. There is a little static if I'm using my laptop at the same time or if an electrical storm is coming, but otherwise it's the bomb!!

ALMOST just what I wanted 2008-07-10
These headphones are the old Resound, and prior to that the old Akrons. In other words, the expertise of these headphones goes back at least 15 years. In the Akron version, there was a tower where there's now a small disc connected to the TV. The disc is better looking and subtler but you've got less room to manuever. I use the headphones while working out. Great on the uprights -- stairmaster, treadmill, etc. -- but I can't do situps and still get reception. With the old tower I could. Other than that, I'm happy with the product. It's a fraction of the cost of Sennheisers, lighter than anything else I've found and very clear and comfortable.

Great buy for the money 2008-06-24
I've had these for over a year and they work just as described. As with any headphones that cover the ear they do become a little uncomfortable (not excessively) after a couple of hours but that was to be expected. I'm truly puzzled by the negative reviews as I've had no problems. However, when you move out of the line of sight of the transmitter there is a static-ky noise but only for a second. I recommend this product to anyone who has trouble hearing all the dialogue in DVD movies.

TV Listener 2008-05-27
The next best thing to the $160 TV Ears. I have one of each and I use the Listener more often. I like not having to get up and trudge across the room to get the earphones. with the Listener the earphones can be right beside you

Try it, you'll like it
