Customer Reviews
Great sound, but very sensitive.
2007-08-04
With some of my older DVDs the unit freezes. In some cases I can press fast forward and eventually pass that part; however, in many cases it won't play after that point. There are definitely other products that sound just as good at a fraction of the cost. Not to mention this is not capable of playing HD or Blueray DVDs. Think twice before you buy. Also if I am not mistaken, this is only capable of 480p/480i.
DO NOT BUY BOSE 3-2-1
2007-07-31
We have had our 3-2-1 for almost a year and I wish we had investigated more before our purchase. The sound on the 3-2-1 is great but if you want to watch movies...forget it. "Format unsupported" or "can't read disc" will be what you are looking at instead of your movie. The system will not play some DVDs at all and will play some one day and not the next. I wish we had never bought this system!
Piece of junk
2007-07-15
For 4 months, I thought this system was 'okay.' Sound is mediocre when you get it home - not like in the store. There is no Eject button on the remote control. I lived with these minor problems even though I should have gotten more for my $900. Then, I started getting Format Unsupported Errors on every DVD I place into the unit. Many times, I can't get them out for 1-2 days. I have completely stopped watching DVDs since this is now hardwired into my home theater system. I would like Bose to replace it, but after reading the pervasive problems online, I think it's better just not to buy this system at all. Don't get fooled. This system will ruin Bose's already poor reputation for video hardware - and will waste your money.
Good sound, a few software quirks
2007-06-23
Overall I've been happy with the sound from this unit in my relatively small living room.
However, I have experienced several of the software quirks mentioned by other readers. When playing DVDs, the unit will periodically lock up, requiring a hard reset to function again. The system also occasionally gets into a state where the sound has a deteriorated "tinny" quality -- this also goes away with a power cycle of the unit. Defects like this are a bit disappointing from a relatively mature (second edition) product from a name like Bose.
One tip is that while the system ships with relatively short custom cords for connecting the unit to subwoofer and the subwoofer to the speakers, longer versions of both cables can be ordered directly from Bose for relatively nominal cost (one was free and one was less than $50 if I recall).

Absolute Junk!! Just a name brand riding a big marketing push!! Save Your Money!!!

Bose Home Theater

For the people who are about to buy this product; Bose has a big name is world renound, but to me the base of the System is very poor. You could to barely hear the base of music. We had an onkyo system that cost us about $200 and the base of that is more satisfiying. The system in a Honda car is more satisfiying than this so called "Great System." So next time when you are thinking to by Bose, Think before you waste your money on this product.
same as rest - JUNK

Similar story to others, only mine at least played DVDs for 18 months b4 the dreaded Format Unsupported start showing up. Now all I have is an expensive 3 speaker system that sounds good at times but at other times you can't hear voices. It was overpriced to start with but I bought into the Bose name thinking it would be quality. What a joke. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, anything else would be either cheaper or more reliable or both!
what a joke

I have never even heard of anything this bad. The first one we got froze after 15 minutes of DVD playtime. We brought it back and the store replaced it immediately, without question (maybe we were not the first). The next one we got turns off spontaneously from time to time, which we could live with. We could also live with the bad TV sound, the bad CD sound, and the bad AUX sound through our computer. After all, it's optimized for DVD, and when we play modern, digital DVDs, the sound is almost as good as the demo in the store. If we can find a way to bypass the system for every other kind of sound input, we'll be in business. (but then we'll need speakers). Maybe someone can help: lately when we play our great-sounding DVDs, the picture goes to a grainy blue-ish black and white image. Now it is useless for everything, and we want our thousand dollars back. I hope we get it, but I have a feeling we're going to get a "repair disc" in the mail instead. If you respect yourself, don't buy this system.
Bose 321 GS

The Bose 321GS system is great. I took it out of the box and setup was very simple. I was listening to great sound from my TV in no time. The sound is great from the front. It does really sound as if the speakers are behind me. The vendor shipped the system right away.
