Kwan describes his materials and demonstrates a series of classic forms including prawn, chrysanthemum, bamboo, horse, and swallow bird. Artist Profile: Kwan Jung is a traditional Chinese Brush Painter. He grew up and received his art training in Southern China and Hong Kong until young adulthood, when he joined the family business in San Diego, California. An award winning artist and teacher and author of the book "Chinese Brush Painting" (by North Light Books), Kwan is best known for portraits and landscapes. His art is direct, lyrical and poetic. He takes only a brief moment to create a universe on paper, a brief moment that arises out of a lifetime of patient practice and centuries of tradition. The serenety of his personality is reflected in his work. Kwan visited our studio in May, 2002 to film his video.
