Replaced old one 2008-03-18
Old one started acting up so I replaced it with the exact same one. Like it really works.

Works Great!!! 2007-10-29
I bought both Transmitter and Receiver about a month ago. Picture and sound quality is very good. Just bought a second receiver for my basement. Picture and sound quality also very good. NO MESS NO FUSS. Excellent product.

RF Link Transmitter/Receiver 2007-09-14
When I first installed this product I installed the receiver outside in the backyard and the transmitter inside nearby. The picture was poor and the sound was filled with noise. Then, remembering that my portable phone was also 5.8G, I turned the phone off. The picture was now great and the sound was fine. Changing the channels on the transmitter/receiver did not help. Only turning the phone off cured the problem.

Thus, if you are thinking of getting this don't if you have 5.8G portable phones in your house. Otherwise, product works as advertised.

Love It 2007-06-11
I have tried several different devices to get video from one room to another and this is the one that has worked the best. The picture quality and the range are both very good. The only problem I have had with this unit is that the performance of the remote extender has been inconsistent. I ended up buying a separate device for that.

I have tried the 2.4gHz wireless devices, and they are really bad. They just don't have enough range and the picture quality was terrible.

The phone line transmitters from Leapfrog work fine, but you need to run a phone cord between the two devices or have a phone jack near both the sender and the receiver. Even then, the picture quality is not always that great.

Beware "Poor shmucks!" Read the entire description of a product before you buy it. Doing so will prevent you from being "hoodwinked." As it clearly states, "This product is an additional transmitter for 5.8GHz wireless A/V sender." You should probably buy the complete system before buying this additional transmitter.

Great unit - I've had no problems at all 2007-05-19
I am going on three years with this set-up and luckily, still no problems at all. In the summer, I use it for a television on the outside patio, in the winter I bring it in the master bath. So, it's been move around, reconnected, etc., numerous times and continues to work like a charm. Great picture and sound, full functionality of the remote not even using the IR extender. I just use my regular Direct TV remote and it works perfectly. Too bad there appear to be quality issues for others based on their reviews, because when this thing works like it continues for me, it's phenomenal. I will definitely buy the same as a replacement if that day ever comes.

Little Company, Big Problems 2007-01-14
I rate the device itself a perfect 5 stars.

Good show chaps, nice one - works for me!

Until I fried the transmitter and bought this replacement unit. The unit properly sent the audio/video - but the IR extender didn't work. After contacting customer service, and waiting a few weeks for a reply, I finally called them and left a message (I've since called numerous times, and never once contacted a live person) - which seemed to finally yield an e-mail reply explaining that they changed the IR chip - and the older units don't work with the newer ones - regardless that the Model # was the same - please send us your serial numbers so we can be sure.

Well ..

To say the customer service is very slow to respond is to say that the ocean's a little moist. Once they finally responded to my serial numbers they requested weeks before, they sent the wrong replacement unit, and on return to them -- they accidently shipped my replacement unit to the wrong places.

To their credit, after 4 months or waiting and emailing, all was finally resolved to my satisfaction and much TV was watched by all.

So .. GREAT unit, however -- if you're looking for customer service, CALL them, CALL THEM again - Call them a third time and send them an e-mail saying you tried calling them.. You MIGHT get a reply.

I want to stress -- this was the RF-Link customer service, not the company that actually sold me the unit retail. The retail people were quick to tell me to talk to the company directly, as they didn't know what the issue could have been - and it was likely a hardware failure which would be covered by the manufacturer.

Great...While It Lasts 2006-12-31
Similar to another reviewer's experience, I really like this unit (and its receiver unit), but there's a caveat. It works well sending signal from my TiVo in the living room to my office, where I have a TV monitor and the audio running through a decent sound system on the computer. However, after a few months, both of the units I've bought have died. I'm to the point now where I'm looking for alternatives, but so far I'm coming up with nothing else comparable in functionality. I really like the capability to use the TiVo remote from the office. When it works. :(

Junk 2006-08-10
This product would be great - if it worked.

I bought this product and it worked great... as advertised... I loved it. Audio, video, IR (remote) worked and were clear. One morning, about 45 days after I bought it, it just stopped working. Assuming the problem was environmental, I had the unit extensively tested by an A/V pro. It was clearly the unit. So I contacted the manufacturer and sent it back. I had high hopes that I just got a lemon, and the next unit would be fine.

The second unit failed within two days (different type of failures). Again I had it checked out, and had the setup and placement checked thoroughly - I mean, what are the odds that two units would fail? Once again, defective equipment, and once again I sent it back.

Third unit lasted a couple of weeks - then failed.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. I have extensive A/V experience and love the idea of this product. Don't buy a product that will fail in a couple of days or months. Find another solution.

Hoodwinked by Amazon 2006-07-08
THIS IS ONLY THE TRANSMITTER, NOT THE ENTIRE SYSTEM. If you search for AVS-5813 you will find the REQUIRED, companion receiver for this item. Amazon does NOT tell you this, but you will figure it out when you receive the item, open up the box to find a completely plain white box, and only 1 unit inside.

Hopefully my comments will prevent some other poor shmuck from thinkg they are getting a great deal only to find they have to pay twice as much for a working system.

I will write another review when I receive my receiver and try out the units.
