Do Not Buy Norton 2006-09-14
I purchased the Norton AV 3 pack. It would not load on one computer and cheated us out of a month on the subscription on another. Norton never answered any emails or online complaints sent to them. Now to make it worse all 3 computers that were running with Norton AV 2006 have been infected with a virus and are inoperable. The cost to repair will be in the hundreds. Norton AV was updated and run on every computer everyday, but the virus was not detected. Run as fast as you can from this product.

Customer service is non-existant 2006-02-13
No problems with the software, but Symantec Co. is awful. I paid for a subscription renewal, but my subscription ran out and there was no way to re-activate it and no way to get a refund. It is IMPOSSIBLE to obtain any customer service from this company. The instructions on their web site don't work, and good luck trying to get through on the phone. Their web site refers you to their customer service phone number, but when you call it, it refers you back to the web site. This is the second time I have had this type of problem with Symantec, I will NEVER do business with them again.

Worse than spyware 2005-12-13
I have just removed Norton Antivirus from 6 computers because it would repeatedly shut down, allowing all of the computers to become infected.

Having removed Norton Antivirus I find that all of the computers now run approximately 30-40% faster! I will never use Norton again, and I would urge anyone else not to even consider it. This program is awful.

3-User license is non-renewable as a 3-user license 2005-10-19
If you wish to purchase this product be aware that the each of the three licenses must be renewed seperately - even though at the time of renewal, it will still call the renewal "Norton AntiVirus 2005 3-Pack Subscriptions". I only found this out after I renewed the subscription. I believed that the "3-pack" meant 3 licenses, and that was what I was subscribing to. WRONG! My experience with customer support to gain a refund or credit has been miserable. I will not be renewing any more of my subscriptions with Norton, and after this event I will not recommend them to ANYONE! Be warned.

Norton Antivirus 2005 Home Protection Pack-3 Users 2005-10-07
I'm very happy with the ease of installation and use of this product. The automatic updates allows me the peace of mind that my machines are safe with current upgraded protection. With Norton's reputation and continued high performance in computer protection, I feel I received a product of the utmost quality. I strongly recommend it.

Has anyone tried renewing their 3 User subscription yet? 2005-09-27

Norton Antivirus purchase 2005-07-09
I like the product. But Norton Antivirus, Symantec did not except my rebate offer and indicated my original receipt which was an Amazon receipt was not valid. I will not purchase from Symantec again.

No problems 2005-07-03
I don't understand the amount of negative feedbacks out there, but it seems there are a lot of Symantec/Norton bashers, yet Symantec products (at least virus protection ones) continue to be the best sellers among retailers, computer manufacturers, and large companies. I have been using computers since 1996, by all means a novice, and started out initially with McAfee upon everyone's recommendations. It always seemed to require too much user input, and not knowing much comupter anti virus lingo, I kept having all sorts of problems (Freezing, pop-ups for McAfee sale pitches, errors, excessive prompts for specific actions, and YES viruses, with very poor customer service). When I bought my second computer (IBM) in early 2000, it came with Norton pre-installed, and what a difference! I never had to do anything to the software. It just worked in the background, and never had a problem. I have been a Norton/Symantec fan since. Every year, I purchase and upgrade to the new software, simply because it is free after rebates, instead of paying to renew my subscription. I tried one year the NIS, and it did slow my computer, so I went back to the NAV. We have 3 desktop and 3 laptop computers, running W98, ME and XP. Never had a problem with viruses, and all computers have Norton running just smoothly in the background. Never had any problems with installation, and the current 3 users pack was even easier, because it automatically uninstalled the prior versions (Norton Professional 2003 and 2004). It updates itself automatically, and simply works (you just don't even know it is working). Not one single computer had a virus in over 5 years. I still have my IBM Aptiva, W98, 550MHZ Athlon, and an older 450MHZ Celeron Toshiba W98. I will admit I was somewhat hesitant about the 2005 product, due to the numerous negative reviews, and several recommendations to just stick with the 2003 and 2004 Professional editions and pay the renewal fees. I decided to be cheap and buy the 3-pack (free after rebates), and I have absolutely no regrets. The rebates are real and I have always received them, usually in less than 30 days. Just read and follow the few pages in the installation section of the manual. Needless to say, I will continue the habit in 2006.

Bad product 2005-06-24
It slows down your computer, even if you have the most powerful processor. Acts like a trial version asks you to activate every week. Strongly advise against buying

Why I Stick With Norton... 2005-05-22
I've recently been reading a ton of complaints around the web about the Symantec Norton Antivirus and Internet Security Suite of software. The following little review has been written in response to those complaints:

One of the biggest complaints that I read about Norton Antivirus and Norton Internet Security is the cost. For me, however, the annual upgrade on Norton Products always ends up free--at least it has since the turn of the millenium. Inevitably if you wait long enough their rebates come out that make the upgrade to the new product absolutely cost free. This holds true even with their full suite which may retail at $70, but I've managed to get 5 copies for various computers I manage at a final cost to me of $0. Actually, with Amazon.com because I get a discount because of the A9 search engine, I think I've managed to earn a couple of bucks by installing Norton Internet Security. Next year, I'll use the rebates to do the same.

With Internet Security, the concerns of many people who are against Norton and Symantec (especially firewall) with the exception of the resource hog issue (Symantec really needs to address this issue) are handled.

Symantec needs to fix their technical service side of things by offering free help of at least some sort. They need to tone down the issues of resource hogging. But as long as they offer me free upgrades every year and consistently maintain virus-free computers (6 years virus free on all on the computers I've managed: usually 5-7 at one time) I'll stick with Symantec. Nevertheless, despite these pitfalls, as long as I can keep upgrading for free and my systems remain virus-free, Norton is my source for internet security.
