Totally worthless! How can they still be allowed to sell these? 2008-08-14
First off, I wish I could give this scale a ZERO star rating. I bought this scale for its features and large, strong platform. I've had it for less than 24hrs and I'm taking it back. I've weighed myself about 15 times, and each time I was given a different weight. I've owned other scales, so I know that foot placement, surface, and movement, is important. Nothing helped. So aside from from a different weight everytime, now its decided to start displaying the too much weight for scale "EE" reading every time I step on it. I weight 230lbs, and the limit is 400lbs. So this scale is just plain crappy. After reading other reviews from people saying the exact same thing, I'm not going to waste my time calling Homedics for help. What I will do, is complain to Bed Bath and Beyond for carrying this piece of crap in their stores.

Do not waste your money on this scale!

Inaccurate and inconsistent - don't waste your money! 2008-05-12
I bought an older model of this scale about a year ago. It seemed to work ok for a while, but then started giving inaccurate and inconsistent readings - giving wildly different weights when I'd weigh myself in a 5 minute period. Eventually, I figured out the feet/switches on the bottom were starting to stick and that was part of the problem. I called the service department, and they told me they had this problem a lot, and that they'd send me a replacement free of charge if I sent the old one back. So, I did (shipping it back was a lot cheaper than buying a new one!).

The new scale arrived quickly in the mail, and I was pleased to see that it was a newer model still sealed in the original box. But, this one wasn't working properly right from the start. I weighed myself a dozen times in a row, and got a dozen different results, varying over a 10 lb range. And a bunch of times it claimed I was too heavy to weigh (I'm about 215 lbs - I would hope this scale could handle that much weight!).

This thing is just a piece of junk. I'm going to toss it in the trash and go find something of better quality. Don't waste your time and money with this item.

Completely Inaccurate. 2008-04-26
"Lifetime" battery died within 4 months. Scale never tells the correct weight. I just weighed myself 3 times and exactly the same weight each time, BUT when I press the button to record my weight I suddenly weigh 3 pounds more. I also weighed myself 4 times within 2 minutes and 4 different weights. This thing is a joke! DON'T BUY!

Don't buy anything from HoMedics 2008-03-27
I bought this scale from Bed Bath and Beyond. From the beginning measurements were very inconsistent. After few months some of the numbers partially disappeared from the LCD. I called 800 number found on the scales for technical support but could not get a life person. I sent email, but got no response. Very bad quality, very bad support. I will never buy anything from Homedics again.

Don't waste your money on this scale 2007-10-31
This scale was great when it worked. It didn't even last 2 months! Very unhappy with this product.

Going strong after more than a year 2007-06-08
I was frustrated with buying scales as I could NEVER get them to read accurately. I have had this scale for more than a year now and even after husband and daughter leave heavy piles of clothes for wash day on top I have NEVER had it read inaccurately or had the batteries die. I have not had any of the problems that have been previously mentioned. I weigh on the Dr.'s balance scale and come right home and it is right one the money. I love this scale and use it every day or every other day. I would buy another one in a heartbeat and have recommended it to friends.

Don't waste your $$$$ 2006-02-23
Total crap. I weighed myself 5 times in 5 minutes and was anywhere from 188 to 195 pounds. Then after I ate and came back I was 187, with a belly full of all you can eat buffet.

crap, don't buy! 2005-12-31
I bought this scale from Bed Bath and Beyond, and it didn't work, right out of the box. Sent my husband back for a replacment, and IT didn't work. Don't waste your time like I did.

Inconsistent and inaccurate 2005-11-13
I've had it about a week. It gives different measurements within a single minute. It has told me I weigh the same with or without clothes on. (The clothes weigh 600g according to my kitchen scales.)

The BMI and user features are good (i.e. it remembers your last weight, for up to four people), but it fails to do the basics: tell you what you actually weigh!

Mediocre Performance & Short Life 2005-10-16
We thought that their "lifetime" batteries were dying on us when some of the numbers disappeared from the LCD. Turned out we were wrong. The batteries did, indeed, last the lifetime of the scale, which in our household was about 6 months. I have a family of 3. My husband and I weigh twice a week on average, and my 8-year-old weighs once a month or so. There is, of course, the warranty, but to take advantage of the warranty I have to pay postage--and send them a check to provide for postage on the way back.

We did get six months of service, though I have to say I was disappointed from the beginning with accuracy. The reason I bought digital is that I grew tired of the variance in my old scale. When I first bought this unit, I discovered that weight could change by 2 pounds in less than a minute, even though I was very careful to "place feet in the same position" as directed.

It did have its benefits. I liked the fact that it could keep track of our various weights from one weigh-in to the next. The numbers were relatively easy to read, though not without some bending for 40+-year-old eyes. The BMI measurement, while of some value, wasn't good for a lot, given that it's calculated on a simple height/weight differential. It might be a good general measure, but it can't factor in some important variables, like age and overall level of fitness. As far as I know, there really are no excellent BMI measuring tools for the home. Even those that use electrical pulse require your own self-assessment in determining your general level of fitness.

The best recommendation I have to offer is this:
I'm suddenly in the market for a new scale. It won't be this one.
