Our Cat Loves It

This toy is great fun for the WHOLE family. Neville, our cat, always comes running when we start playing with it. He loves to push against it and make it play the sounds. My only complaint is that it makes the wrong sound for R. It says that R says /er/ but R actually makes the sound /r/. It's really difficult to say without a vowel, but you must or kids will it up pronouncing the word row, erow. That's just not right! Anyway, we love the Word Whammer and Fridge Phonics! If we need Neville to come and have his glucose level checked, we just start pushing letters and he comes rushing into the kitchen.

The day after I put this on our fridge, my pre-schooler could spell 3 words from memory, knowing what they were, and recognizing them if I spelled them. I am very impressed at how this toy does teach.

LOVE this thing!

From helping my then-2 year old learn letters to helping my then-4 year old learn letter sounds to helping my then-6 year old practice spelling short words, this toy has been invaluable. The kids are now 5, 6 and 8 and they still play with it all the time. Between this set, the original single-letter toy and the bonus pack of lower case letters, they have enough magnets for everyone.

Lots of word fun

Both my 6 and 3 yr. olds like this toy and it keeps them occupied for quite a while. The sounds and voice encouragement don't get on your nerves like some toys can. And it's easy to operate without much instruction.

This was an addition to our current LeapFrog Fridge Phonics unit (which only had space for one letter). This word whammer lets you use three letters at a time to make words. We have found that it has really helped our son learn to put new words together. It just makes it so much fun for him with the songs and sounds that they don't even know they are "learning!". I highly recommend this toy.

"Every Letter Makes A Sound"

My (almost) 3yr old daughter got this last Christmas (5 months ago). Everyday we do a new "word of the day" and she LOVES it. She now understands that "every letter makes a sound" so that letters are no longer just an alphabet to memorize...but that together they create words. Pretty outstanding considering children aren't expected to read until Kindergarten. She knows ALL her letter sounds because of this product.

GET IT if you want to encourage your child to love "early reading" without the pressure of school. Plus...it challenges me to come up with a new 3-letter word everyday!

LeapFrog Fridge Phonics

After my 2-yr-old stopped paying much attention to his first LeapFrog Fridge game that just let you put in one letter, he was really happy to start playing with the word whammer. He immediately started spelling "Mom" and "Dad", then "Nap" when he was tired and "Sad" when he was mad about not getting a cookie. I'm amazed everytime he spells a new word.

Everything about this toy is cool. My almost 3-year-old son loved it and really truly played with it unlike alot of his other toys. The phonics education in the toy is awesome, and even though he is a bit too young for certain aspects of the toy, it is something that he will grow into and learn from so he will be able to enjoy it for some time. It truly is an educational toy. The durability is great, but I would just warn people that the combination of a refrigerator toy, and a pre-schooler who likes to try to pour his own juice (and prefers to try when mom and dad are not in the room), is not a good combination. Our first one of these was drowned in OJ and nothing could be done to save it. we still loved the toy enough to spend another $20+ on a new one.

	Dora the Explorer Mr. Face Plush Backpack Review: My daughter is a big Dora fan and uses this backpack to carry around her favorite toys and books, which is why I gave it 5 stars for educational value. My friend's daughter has it as well, and love hers too. We've had it 6 months now and it's holding up just fine. The map opens up for an added bonus. My daughter likes to wear it and sing the backpack song from the show.
	Star Wars Episode III: Darth Vader Voice Changer Helmet Wow, do I ever wish they had this out when I was a kid! I bought it, and my wife, kids and I have all been playing with it. It has a chest box with several buttons that plays about 5 of Darth's quotes from the movies, or you can switch it to voice changer. The voice changer is fun! It has 3 different levels of depth for changing the voice. ... A must for Star Wars Geeks!!!!
